Why did Scot
Why did Scott O Dell Change his apperencew —Preceding unsigned comment added by 168.9.85.254 (talk • contribs) 19:41, 27 March 2007

: Answer: In one of Scott's early writings, a typesetter spelled Odell with and apostrophe. Scott liked the way the typesetter had spelled it and went on to legally change his name. Now you see his name spelled O'Dell. i hope that answers your question. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.43.167.178 (talk • contribs) 18:40, 13 May 2007

:: Did the typesetter make Odell/O'dell/O'Dell a surname?
:: The US Library of Congress (footer link LCCN) gives Odell Gabriel Scott --given name (surname Scott), no apostrophe, lowercase D.

Works
The lead is unusually precise, specifying "26 novels for young people, along with three novels for adults and four nonfiction books."

We now list 1 nonfiction, 5 series books, and 28 other novels (sum 34, compare 33 above). Which of the 33=5+28 series books and other novels are not for young people? Which are nonfiction? Either the precise counts or the list should be corrected and the few novels for adults and nonfiction books should be identified, at minimum by symbol (such as ‡, †) within the list.

Do parenthetical notes within the titles represent subtitles?

Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction says that O'Dell won the award in 1987, not 1986, "for Streams to the River, River to the Sea, his fictional retelling of the story of Sacagawea". At least that much information should somehow be provided here, at least.

: Current version ScottOdell.com contains statement:
