Three more buildings were constructed in 1971.[1] The University of Wisconsin System was formed in 1973.[1] UW–Marshfield/ Wood County was one of 14 charter University of Wisconsin Center two year campuses.[1] The campus underwent a $5.1 million expansion and remodeling project in 1998.[1] The current campus, west of downtown Marshfield, WI, features a 114-acre (46 ha) arboretum, a 340 seat theater, an arts center and specialist science accommodation. The campus offers a liberal arts foundation focused on students who will transfer after two years to a B.S. program or remain at Marshfield/Wood County and complete the BAAS degree, or complete other Bachelor's degrees in partnership with UW Stevens Point or other comprehensive UW campuses under the Fastrack program. The campus enrolls approxiamtely 650 students per semester. There are several varsity sports programs including volleyball, men and women's basketball, golf, and tennis. As of August 1, 2011, the Dean and CEO is Professor Patricia Stuhr (Ph.D, UW-Madison, MST, UW-Oshkosh, BA, UW-Stevens Point), herself from Marshfield, Wisconsin, and an alumna of the Marshfield/Wood County campus. She replaces Dr. Julie Tharp, who serves on an interim basis, after the retirement of Dr. Andrew Keogh who retired in July 2010 after 8 years as Dean.
