:I wrote [https://magnustools.toolforge.org/prepbio.php?q=Q42 something similar] years ago, but it was difficult to adjust it to more case types, and I have not had the time to think about crowdsouring that aspect; I'll give it some thought. Category assignment issue of your bot on jawiki

Hi Magnus Manske, just letting you know, in case you've missed it, that you've got a complaint about your bot on ja:User_talk:ListeriaBot. The bot's been categorizing ja:User:Jura1/pages with Wikidata items without any statements with categories for the Main namespace. This was reported to the admins' noticeboard as a malfunction, and the reporter claims that the bot should be blocked until it's re-coded to add a leading colon ([[:Category). Please have a look at the talk page once. Thanks. Dragoniez (talk) 12:11, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Dragoniez: It’s not the bot’s fault. The SPARQL query instructs it to concatenate [[, the page title, and ]] · , and it does so. The SPARQL query needs to be updated to include the colon – the leading colon doesn’t cause any harm in links pointing to other namespaces, so it can be just blindly added to all links. (I don’t want to do this myself, because it’s on a user subpage on a wiki whose language I don’t speak.) —Tacsipacsi (talk) 22:50, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Tacsipacsi Thank you for the information. I just made that edit. I’ll also reject the block request. Dragoniez (talk) 08:51, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ListeriaBot malfunction in several Wikipedias

Since some hours ago, ListeriaBot is doing strange edits in automatic lists across several Wikipedias and several topics. It seems to be missing part of the queries and often misformatting the lists. https://github.com/magnusmanske/listeria_rs/issues/121

I'm not sure if somebody is working on fixing it or if it would be preferable to stop the bot until it works again. Pere prlpz (talk) 23:44, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An example: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by occupation/Mathematicians: In Special:Diff/1227981511 the bot removed about 800 of the 2000 entries on the list, most for no apparent reason. —David Eppstein (talk) 21:09, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The same list is back to normal now. —David Eppstein (talk) 04:19, 13 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion: Wikinator

With so many websites using MediaWiki, how about a version of reasonator that outputs in wikitext so it can be pasted in directly?

For example if there was a "fandom" wiki page for an actor people would be able to fill the information wikidata has for them.

This might also encourage people (as a starting point for creating a wiki page) to first gather the information into wikidata.

The idea could also be extended to other markup languages for example Atlassian (JIRA) Wiki (confluence) uses "markdown" Back ache (talk) 10:00, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
