== Randolph Mantooth age 2 ==

http://www.king5.com/new-day-northwest/Medic-One-Foundation-228187861.html?clmob=y& I believe that this has Randolph Mantooth saying how old he was when the show started in1972. If not there are plenty more interviews where he says how old he is.

Austria page

When I went to the page it said "Hello sonny boy my bicc boyyyy" and the country fact box was gone. I was trying to delete it. The page that was displayed was the one last revised by Brenodn245, and not the one by MusikAnimal. So, I tried to change it back to the original one that didn't say "Hello sonny my bicc boyyy" but accidently reversed the edit by MusikAnimal. I don't know why it was displaying the Brenodn245 edit instead of MusikAnimal which was the most recent edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.57.189.125 (talk) 00:43, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Calfmessy

Hi, could you determine if Calfmessy (talk · contribs), already blocked, is another Fernando-the-King's sock? I didn't report it before now because I was waiting for some more evidence, anyway Calfmessy repeated a vandalism made by BoomBamChuk in STAR Sports. Question

Hi Materialscientist. I got a message from you, I am not very familiar with much of Wikipedia, and I am not sure I know how to properly reply. Your message probably had to do with the removal of my edit to the "avogadro constant" wiki page. I do not understand why anybody may have done that. What I know for sure is the the reported motivation for the removal is ridiculous. If you care to reply, please do so by email at the address [email protected]. regards - Stefano Baroni — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stefanobaroni (talkcontribs) 13:06, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I recently made an edit to Ukiah, California in which I added the famous and renowned Tattoo Artist, Lyle Tuttle to the list of Notable people. Lyle Tuttle is the reason tattooing is as popular as it is today, which I'm sure you have the slightest idea about. However, Kat Von D is listen in the notable people of Monterrey, Mexico. Kat Von D wouldn't even be an apple in the public's eye had it not been for Lyle Tuttle's contributions to the industry. Pull your head out of your ass and give Mr. Tuttle the recognition he deserves. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.151.104.91 (talk) 03:56, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

It looked (and still looks) to me that all the references in the Arnold Clark article are to Arnold Clark websites, hence I would suspect an inherent bias. I felt (and feel) this should be pointed out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.16.222.31 (talk) 12:32, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

IP making hoax edits on BLPs

Hello, I noticed that you just reverted an edit made by 112.210.102.97 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). I have just reverted another edit by the same IP, a hoax edit (diff) on Dolphy, a BLP about a deceased Filipino actor, changing the article to look as if the actor is still alive and active. The same type of edit on Dolphy, plus similar edits on multiple other BLPs, were made by 112.207.221.104 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) three days ago (diff), an IP that was subsequently blocked as a sock of long-term vandal User:Christian2941, with a lot of clean-up required afterwards, and also by 112.207.192.211 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) (diff) (an IP that I haven't noticed until now, but that has made the same type of hoax edits as the other two). So I would appreciate if you would apply a quick block to the new IP112.210.102.97, based on WP:DUCK, and perhaps also to IP112.207.192.211 (even though that IP doesn't seem to be active now) so that we can minimize the damage... The Growlers Greatest sHits Albu

Hello, Your concern about my edit is reasonable as it does involve a word that may be considered vulgar, and I'm glad that there are people who monitor the pages to ensure that the content is as helpful as possible. With that being said, the name of the album is Greatest sHits. It is an obvious play on words that the band has used to name their album. My only intention was to provide truthful information in order to ameliorate the false information provided. Thank you for expressing your concern and if you need proof this link will no doubt provide it. http://www.last.fm/music/The+Growlers/Greatest+sHits — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.15.211.169 (talk) 23:23, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AshokSundari

In that article you are inserting sources which are unvalid. WP:RS clearly states that only academic sources like books can be used as references for mythological articles. None of the sources in that article are academic sources. Also those sources provide incorrect and inaccurate information and are unreliable. They say that Ashok Sundari married Nahusha and Yayati was grandfather of Nahusha. However in actual Nahusha married Viraja daughter of Pitrs not Shiva. Also Yayati was son of Nahusha. Wrong information itself is a sign of unreliability.

This English translation of Padma Purana tells about Nahusha and Yayati but does not mention any Ashok Sundari:

As far as this matter is concern it is atleast proved she is not mentioned in Padma Purana. Also she is actually only a character in a play [ http://books.google.co.in/books?id=zB4n3MVozbUC&pg=PA1090&dq=Ashok+Sundari&hl=en&sa=X&ei=HxTKULaAHtHoiQLQ_4CYDQ&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=Ashok%20Sundari&f=false] by Sambhu Prasad. I had to accept your edit

Heya. I don't quite understand why this edit was showing up on my watchlist as needing accepting. You're an admin, so I thought it should have approved that automatically; it does with me. Was it becauase there were two previous IP edits that also needed approving (by different IPs to the one you reverted?). The logistics of PC does confuse me sometimes. GedUK  12:09, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This happens very often, and I don't know why (I can accept my revert, but only after the revert). I guess it is a PC bug, maybe related to delays in refreshing the wiki database, but I haven't studied it. Materialscientist (talk) 13:03, 18 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I appreciate you trying to improve my page. However, I do not like the citing style that you introduced. I think my references look quite chaotic now, but I guess that is a question of personal taste. If you make those changes however, I think you should follow proper citing styles and use journal abbreviations as I used them. If you look in any kind of professional essay, you will see that abbreviations are commonly used. Range block for IP-hopping vandal on Space Elevator?

Hello Materialscientist, Thanks for the block on the IP edit-warring on Space Elevator. It now looks like he's IP-hopping and continuing the same war. Reversal of rolls: vandals making it look like they are trying to remove so you keep it in.

I have seen this today on four different articles: McAfee, BBC Radio 1, Norton AntiVirus, and Heart (radio network). One of the editors copy & pastes a section from one area of the article into another location or new section. Three out of four times it has been a section like "Criticisms" being moved into the lead, or an "Overview" section. On these three the initial copy & paste was done by User:Mark D Hemmingway (see notes on his talk page).

After the initial addition of text multiple other editors come in looking like vandals and remove it multiple times. Usually leaving an edit summary that directly points at vandalism (e.g. "because it is CRAAAAP that's why"). Some regular users see this and revert these edits thinking they are vandalism when in reality the edits being reverted are actually removing the cleverly disguised disruptive edit/vandalism. The point appears to be to get the original edit to be part of the article, by the inertia/confusion of multiple editors reverting it back in.

The following editors participated in this today, all with the exception of User:Mark D Hemmingway and 188.28.240.27 are now banned:

I am mentioning this to you because you were one of the editors who was reverting back in the disruptive edit on two of the pages, . You might want to keep a look out for this type of activity in the future. Makyen (talk) 11:39, 20 December 2013 (UTC).[reply]

Automatically archiving your talk page

I noticed that you get a large volume on your talk page and that you archive it using a partial edit history method. Would it not be easier to set up auto-archiving, with a short time to archive (e.g. 7 days, or less), rather than have to take the time to empty this page every month? If it is that you desire to be able to take a break every once in a while without the new threads being archived, you can always turn it off prior to a break or revert the archiving if you forget to do so. Just wondering. (no reply needed) Makyen (talk) 22:20, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just a reminder...

Please don't mark non-minor edits as minor. This revert[4] was not a minor edit. I've just re-added the material to the article, but even if it had been vandalism, removing 570 bytes of content isn't 'minor'. Thanks for reading. Robofish (talk) 23:06, 21 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

On Quantum Gravity

Hi Material Scientist,

Regarding quantum gravity (QG): It is said by many that QG still has no definitive battleground. I wonder, what makes someone like yourself an authority on QG to judge the validity of different approaches? Would it be better to allow some new approach that has a solid quantum logical foundation to be known rather than to continue the promotion of untestable and deemed "not even wrong" approaches by many? Single stack .45c Glock 21 magazine

In this edit[6] an anon user added a sales site source for a single stack cartridge which is not a desirable source. I'd love to find the magazine in a source like the "2012 Standard Catalog of Firearms: The Collector's Price & Reference Guide" but the catalog doesn't mention the magazine stacking. I did find a picture of the actual 10 round and it is single stack but the Glock site is no help. You have better source inventory? I started helping on the gun and ammo pages from working on a modification of the Fallout 3 game and found sourcing frustrating as it's almost all commercial sales and advertising sites. Today, an editor with an IP address beginning with 88 made a silly edit to Swamp. Another editor reverted it. That IP editor responded by blanking the page. A different editor undid that. The IP editor blanked the page again, and a different editor undid that. I believe that IP editor just made one more silly edit, and a different editor undid that. Is there any way to block that IP address editor?CorinneSD (talk) 20:46, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Clovis Watson Article

Hi,

You contacted me stating my recent changes to the Clovis Watson article provided no reliable sources.

While I have ample sources for everything I wrote in that article - I will not dispute I did not provide them.

However - There are three thing cited to back up the entirety of the rest of the article. If you are going to "patrol" for sources - then I suggest perhaps you might erase the rest of the article other than that which states his date of birth, etc. and the fact that he "is" in the House of Representatives and that he "did" switch parties (the only things with sources to back them up - even though the Gainesville Sun, especially with regard to Clovis Watson, is hardly a reliable source.

Nothing in that article is produced via sources - it is all fictitious propaganda created by the people who "operate" Clovis Watson.

Let's start with easy stuff. You removed for example my corrections to his academic records. What sources exist to back up the claims made currently.

I know that this information is false - because I have his actual transcripts (and have placed them on scribd (http://www.scribd.com/collections/2280041/Proof-of-Fraud-Academic-Fraud-Clovis-Watson). I have also done all the research to uncover the multiple elements of fraud involved in those claims - including having all of his "earlier" resumes (his own produced resume is NOT a "reliable source" by the way). These include claims to OTHER degrees he never earned.

Perhaps if you don't like my re-edits - you would at least start with the transcripts - and "fix" the fictions put onto Wikipedia by Watson and his allies. They even removed my previous edits - where I added the link above to the actual transcripts - because they did not want anyone to see them.

Please let me know when you do. I certainly would hate to see all the rest of the false claims made in that "article" kept up on Wikipedia without a single reliable source.

Or do you want me to re-write the edits - and use those transcripts to provide a DETAILED point by point PROOF of the many, many lies being told by Watson in that article? And then go from there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.89.158.131 (talk) 21:31, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Materialscientist,

Thank you for removing the links I added on the Photon and Virtual Photon pages so quickly. These were my first attempts to contribute to Wikipedia and it was heartening to know that someone is paying such close attention. Regarding your advice to look at the welcome page, actually I read it in detail and it said " Don't be afraid to edit – anyone can edit almost every page, and we are encouraged to be bold" As other Wikipedia editing information indicated, I thought a link to very pertinent information would be appreciated.

In the spirit of fostering future online cooperation I suggest you read "The Decline of Wikipedia" here: http://www.technologyreview.com/featuredstory/520446/the-decline-of-wikipedia/

Since you have not had a chance to read the paper "The Two Body Photon" formerly available from the link you removed ( https://sites.google.com/site/twobodyphoton/ ) I suggest you read it now so that you can advise me in how to incorporate the information it contains into the Wikipedia information. Since I am new at editing Wikipedia I will need help correcting the errors in the Wikipedia article. It appears if I edit it myself it will just be reverted anyway so there is no sense in wasting my time as long as you are around. Please read the paper carefully and with an open mind and enjoy the holidays! K0RTD (talk) 00:28, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for deleting my post about the Fuskies. You must be a big UW fan. Truth hurts, doesn't it? All those losses adding up, it must hurt a bit. I understand that as a wikipedia administrator you have the right to delete posts you don't agree with, so that's why I'm not going to bother redoing my edit, because you're going to just go ahead and delete it again. All I have to say is that you and I both know what the truth is, the Huskies suck, they've lost to Oregon every year for the past decade and you're just going to have to deal with getting blown out for the next 10+ years. If you have time, would you look at the last few edits to Ki Hajar Dewantara? An editor removed a category, "Indonesian revolutionaries", with an edit summary saying something to the effect that this is a subjective term and that it needs to be discussed/sourced. The editor who had added the category undid that, but the edit summary made no sense to me, so today I undid that, with an edit summary saying that the edit summary had made no sense, and urged the editor to discuss it on the Talk page. The original editor again undid my edit, adding the category back in, but I still don't understand the edit summary.CorinneSD (talk) 17:24, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please clarify which article that I edited that you deleted while citing no references.

I received a message from you stating that you deleted a change that I made to a wiki article. I am not sure which you are referring to and would appreciate further clarification. I regularly edit wiki entries dealing with corporate culture and specifically articles dealing with the ENRON CORP fraud. My goal is to correct misleading information about those crimes. My source is direct personal observations and experiences. I worked at ENRON CORP before Ken Lay did and I was in the next room when he got his job. I have multiple direct interfaces with him and other executives both at corporate headquarters and at field locations. When it became obvious to many of use that Lay was engaged in criminal activities, I left. I then worked for Enron's lead bank, First City Bancorp of Texas where I was hired by the CEO & Chairman of that bank. I also worked directly with the CEO of what was called Collecting bank and that CEO was the first CEO of Enron Corp. The last job that I had before retirement was a VP of JP Morgan Chase which became Enron's lead bank. Later I was a party to the class action suit against JPM Chase for conspiracy and collusion with Enron in it's crimes. I think that I am in a unique position to comment about most things about Enron. I have tons of Enron documentation and many documents that were never made public. I could go on but it might be in vain unless you could reference the wiki listing you mentioned. Thank you for your interest in it and I understand how you might feel about what you've said. However, according to my change, I have already added two more citations to the page. I know that I could have make it more circumspect too but that's not necessary because the citation that I added have already covered all the content in that page and enough to let it published.

Therefore, I will correct it again a bit more, even though I think I have already done it enough in the previous version. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trakarom (talkcontribs) 11:28, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Peach foliage damage by earwigs

Hi Materialscientist. Just received your request for a reference for earwigs eating peaches. The only reference I have at hand is a German-language gardening website, but it has a couple of photos showing the characteristic damage:

http://forum.garten-pur.de/index.php?board=25;action=display;threadid=35543;start=0

I suppose the photo is copyrighted, otherwise I might have tried adding it.

My hunch is that earwig damage is due to the early mild springs we have been having in the past 2 decades, here in England at least. Added to the fact that the little monsters feed nocturnally, most people have not noted earwigs as a pest in the traditional textbooks. You need a torch after dusk to see them: 3-4 of them on each tip! Small trees are killed, established ones survive but do not bear fruit, as the blossom is eaten first. A greaseband applied just before the blossom solved the problem for me: we had a crop of over 100 nectarines per tree in 2013. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.137.36.35 (talk) 10:03, 31 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hersi Matmuja

Hi, I've seen that you have reverted edits by another user in this page, saying that a reliable source is needed. In the talk page of that voice I have published several reliable sources (including a question asked directly to the person in object) that prove that her birth name is Hersjana Matmuja and that her stage name is Hersi Matmuja, but still now other users don't think that those sources are reliable. They say that the only reliable source is eurovision.tv website and other Wikipedia versions of that voice... Good, but now that also eurovision.tv website has corrected the error (without considering that some other version of Wikipedia, like the Swedish one, already talked about the error and reported the correct version of the name), nothing has changed and edits are still reverted. So the question that now I ask to you is: which reliable source prove that the singer's name is Herciana? No one! --ale83_webmaster (talk) 01:08, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Could I have an answer, please? Thanks in advance. --ale83_webmaster (talk) 14:15, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps a more well mannered text would give you the attention you want. Just as you say now that the text has been changed in the eurovision.tv source and it has been "corrected" it could perhaps be changed. But for that to happen you can not act like a angry brat towards the one you want to make the change. You can not expect people to be polite towards you and take notice of your requests if you are not polite back. Just a tip. regards--BabbaQ (talk) 23:37, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
But considering how you have POV pushed this I would still be surprised if Materialscientist responds to you. Just being honest. Regards,--BabbaQ (talk) 23:47, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think I've ever written anything ill-mannered in my comments, but the only "wrong" thing that I did was to insist too much. If I did this, though, it was only because I found people like you and other ones who, even after I brought the evidence that showed that in the Wikipedia article there was a mistake, you have denied the obvious and continued to keep the mistake, saying also that, although in the future the error had been corrected in your reliable source, PERHAPS it would have been corrected on Wikipedia (and you've just confirmed this also in the comment immediately above), as if you are the only one who can decide what is right and what is wrong.
However, I'm not angry with you, and if I exaggerated, I apologize to you. If you want, we can go back to the talk page of the article to discuss and face the issue quietly, with both of us evaluating each other's opinions and then peacefully we can decide what to do. What do you think about this? Best regards, ale83_webmaster (talk) 00:29, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments. I have just joined the Wikipedia community so please forgive any breach of etiquette. I added the link to the discussion of Wellness Tourism because I was quoted in the article, and since I have been writing, researching and living the topic since prior to 2004 I thought it would be a relevant site for anyone interested in more on the subject of wellness tourism and wellness travel. Billy Wright

Hello Materialscientist,

You reverted an edit I made concerning Billy Wright. The current descriptor is "English - Irish Commander". He wasn't English, he wasn't Irish and he certainly wasn't a commander in any official sense of the word. He was however, a convicted terrorist who was murdered in prison. Perhaps "Convicted Terrorist" isn't perfect but it has the singular advantage of actually being true; something the original does not. Can you please explain?

Thanks!

"Het Masteen"

See WP:NPOV. One person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. You might notice that we don't explicitly label "terrorist" (at least in the article lead) even people like Osama bin Laden. Materialscientist (talk) 06:28, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why? Medref. templates tend to be rather bulky (10+ authors, pmid/doi/pmc, etc.) that hinders editing. Cite journal is good for keeping a custom style, like reverse author names (B. Smith), but you don't use that in med. articles. Materialscientist (talk) 00:33, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there - I note you've deleted my updates to my biography which is woefully out of date - so much so that a BBC Radio 4 show last week credited incorrectly because they referred to mu Wiki page. How can I make the edits and additions when they are of my own resume and biography? Not sure how it can link to verifiable sources for such changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tellyguy (talkcontribs) 12:33, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you recently [reverted a revision] where I removed a NotMovedToCommons template because an image was already marked KeepLocal saying that NotMovedToCommons and KeepLocal are different (and by extension need to remain together). My intention in removing the NotMovedToCommons template is to clear the backlog in Category:Wikipedia_files_moved_to_Wikimedia_Commons_which_could_not_be_deleted. Clearing this backlog means we can focus on images that need to be fixed to make it on to Commons; retaining NotMovedToCommons on a KeepLocal image only results in cluttering up the category which isn't helpful. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you Cube00 (talk) 13:35, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it should not be moved to Commons - it was moved by non-admin, in 2012, when Commons and Wikimedia Foundation were yet unsettled about the recent URAA developments [9]. Nominally, PD-Sweden is compliant with URAA, but there is a problem in it which I still haven't figured out how to solve. Materialscientist (talk) 14:11, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What if I changed NotMovedToCommons to the "Do not move to Commons" template with your justification above? We can get the backlog cleared and your reasoning is still clearly recorded on the page. If that isn't acceptable what if I nominated the Commons version for deletion and let the community come to a decision? Cube00 (talk) 14:16, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
{{Do not move to Commons}} is written for images that are free in the US. This is a different case. Materialscientist (talk) 14:22, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It also handles "any other reason". If you set the reason= parameter the only text that appears is "Do not move to Commons" and your reason text, no reference to free in the US.Cube00 (talk) 14:25, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Technically that would work, but {{Possibly non-free in US}} nicely explains this case, which is why it is in the image file. Materialscientist (talk) 14:29, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Very true however that still leaves "NotMovedToCommons" on the page which what I'm trying to resolve to clear the backlog category. Since we already have "Possibly non-free in US" on the page and also "NotMovedToCommons" would it be acceptable to you if "NotMovedToCommons" was replaced with "Do not moved to Commons|reason=..." leaving all other existing templates? Cube00 (talk) 14:36, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Again, NotMovedToCommons nicely explains the situation. I am fine with removing KeepLocal though. Materialscientist (talk) 14:45, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
My only interest was trying to get Category:Wikipedia_files_moved_to_Wikimedia_Commons_which_could_not_be_deleted under control; best of luck resolving this tricky case and thanks for your time. Cube00 (talk) 14:52, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I kicked off a deletion request on Commons to see what they thought and they asking for some dates, thought you may be able to help (I understand you didn't ask for the deletion request so it's up to you if you want to partipate in the discussion) Cube00 (talk) 04:09, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion has concluded and Commons determined the image is suitable. As a result I have removed the NotMovedToCommons template as the image could be moved to Commons. The "keep local" template was added by User:Magog the Ogre and as they are the tagging editor only they can make the decision to remove the KeepLocal template they placed there. Automotive industry in Hong Kong

I was looking at the deletion log and saw that you deleted Automotive industry in Hong Kong claiming not enough context to identify the subject of the article. That's complete bull. The title is "automotive industry in Hong Kong" and that is the subject of the article. It's important to get speedy deletes right, since it is one of the least scrutinized parts of Wikipedia. Accuracy Issues Kingdom of Aksum and Eritrea

MaterialScientist

Sorry for what I have done to get the attention of the person who wrote on the Kingdom of Aksum and Eritrea. I read a lot on those pages which perhaps should be examined. For instance: 1) the writer mentioned a "Hamasien Republic". This is incorrect. There has never been a republic by that name, at least in that part of the world. 2) the map depicting the kingdom of Aksum is also not accurate. The kingdom was established in the Northern Ethiopia region which is now Tigray. It did include some parts of present day Eritrea and the ports, but It doesn't include the whole present day Eritrea 3) the Writer said that Modern Human beings expanded to the rest of Africa from the Red Sea cost but this too is erroneous.

Eritrea may have its own history during the sixty years it fell under the Italian occupation and twenty three years it won independence. Beside that ,it has been an integral part of the Ethopian/Abyssinian/Aksumite kingdom. It didn't have it's present day shape, it didn't have it's present day name (which was given by the Italians). But What I read there made me to think that the writer might be an Eritrean who want to give an exaggerated content of history for his new country. That is not fair as it would mislead the readers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Elyaad (talkcontribs) 10:58, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Materialscientist! I've noticed your comment on my talk page about the edit at density as being unsourced. Is it absolutely necessary the statement to be sourced. Hi Materialscientist - My apologies about the edit I made to the page "Taylor County High School". I actually did not intend for that edit to be registered as a permanent change, and I thought I reversed the comment, but apparently not. I am a beginner interested in learning more about how to make real contributions to several physics and lasers Wiki pages that I believe could use more valid technical content. If what I edited on TCHS page was made public and saved, I'm surprised that it's so easy for anyone to simply click 'edit' and register a permanent modification to any Wiki page. On the other hand, you did catch this, so I guess Wiki must have a huge bandwidth of human review to modifications. In any event, sorry for making more work for you - I was experimenting, it won't happen again.

Hello

Dear Materialscientist,

Some of the content on some articles is misleading and irrelevant to the topic in question, Why do article writers explain information about a country, but also referring to it's neighbouring countries, or people from a country, but also referring to people from a neighbouring country, When you write and article only write about that particular : country or people, don't go on talking about Belgium or Poland if your going to refer to France or Germany, Kapishki Kazinski, good

Or for example a Belgian person, but referring to a French person, a polish person but also mentioning a german person.

Sparrow extraneous citations

I note that you have restored the list of citations that I removed. None of these works are cited in the text and there are plenty of in-line refs. To a casual observer (me) the list looked more like a promotion of books by J. Dennis Summers_Smith casually hidden amongst a few others as camouflage. Tip:please make it a choice for the original creator of a post to make it uneditable. cas history cannot be rewritten each day, if it is written it is corrupt history. i wonder whether all the historical things i check every day " are true or corrupt" history on wikipedia. ive provided authentic sites as well concerning sufism of the said shah nematollah wali in 2009 and that gets changed to my frustration. kindly do a favour to history that it is getting corrupted by any tom dick and harry thank you again please mail me on my email as wikipedia messaging and editing system is not user friendly. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.148.26.204 (talk) 21:40, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gabon reversion

I added size comparables for Gabon to bring the article in line with those for other African nations, which do the same. See Mali, Guinea, Niger, inter alia, for examples.

You removed the edit. I don't understand why. Is there a different rule for Gabon than for the other countries?

There is no use comparing Gabon and New Zealand just to illustrate the area of Gabon (both countries are very distant for most wikipedia readers). Further, most such comparisons are US- or Europe-centric. Let the numbers speak for themselves. Materialscientist (talk) 14:06, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Thelma Rene Kent 1939.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Test edit warning template

Why did you give this editor a level 2 warning rather than a level 1 warning? Axl ¤ [Talk] 20:07, 15 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So you didn't bother to reply? Axl ¤ [Talk] 01:53, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Because I felt such edits do deserve l-2 warning. This IP has a bad history and should be blocked if they continue this way. Materialscientist (talk) 02:01, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
"A bad history"? The IP address had made six edits, of which two could be described as clearly disruptive. "This IP ... should be blocked if they continue this way." What do you suppose is the purpose of level 1 warnings? Or perhaps you think that they serve no purpose? You should have issued a level 1 warning. Axl ¤ [Talk] 12:22, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No response again, huh? You shouldn't be an admin. Axl ¤ [Talk] 12:50, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Level-1 is commonly given for good faith mistakes, whereas level-2 implies that the edit was in bad faith, which is what I saw, and linked above. Now, if you came here to vent your frustration with admins, please leave. Materialscientist (talk) 12:59, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have great respect for admins and the work that they do. You made a mistake here. You tried to evade the issue by ignoring me. Then you invented a claim about a "bad history". Now you create another claim about level 1 warnings. What is the purpose of a level 1 warning for vandalism? For a "good faith mistake"? Axl ¤ [Talk] 22:02, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Materialscientist,

Below, I have repeated my previous arguments to you (6 November 2013) regarding appropriateness of the added External Links, three of which you have recently reverted. I would again ask you to qualify your changes. I am not interested in promotion, search rankings or advertising. The links are, in every case, a useful extension to the content on the pages, with the content on the linked page not being appropriate for direct inclusion on this encyclopedia. The linked pages are consistent in terms of content with other such linked pages throughout the encyclopedia.

Thanks, SimeonBF (talk) 00:49, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your only activity on wikipedia has been addition of links to http://www.pvlighthouse.com.au, all of which contain direct offers of consulting and "advertising with us". Please stop. Re Mazda FE-DOHC.

Hi,

I would like to say that the changes that I made to the page were full of factual information. I filled in some gaps in many peoples knowledge, as to what models have specific motors. There is also no photos of the FE-DOHC on the page, so I thought that a real photo of my own would contribute well.

Sorry I was not aware of the sandbox, but I am now. The final edit I made was however very accurate.

Can you please look it over again. I would like the info to be shown.

Fake Warning Messages

Hi,

I'd just like to ask why on earth am I receiving warning messages for editing pages I've never heard of. Yes, it was my IP address, as I have no account, but I work on a protected laptop. This also happened earlier, but I was banned from editing for two days for no reason. Why does this keep happening?

~Non-wikipedia-account-user (You can call me Ivy though if you are going to reply) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.137.135.148 (talk) 04:33, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This implies that your IP address is shared (not your protected laptop). Registering an account would save you from this nuisance. Materialscientist (talk) 04:41, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Possible IPBE

Hello, Materialscientist. The user Abu Shawka has repeatedly asked for unblocks relating to autoblocks or IP blocks. It may be that he edits using one or more IP addresses that are particularly prone to abuse for some reason. I wonder if you would be willing to have a look, using your checkuser powers, to see whether there is a case for IP block exemption. JamesBWatson (talk) 15:58, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and granted IPBE. Abu Shawka has already had IPBE; it was removed as unneeded, but it seems one of the PCs he uses is vulnerable and will likely be re-blocked in the future. Materialscientist (talk) 00:31, 17 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Content

Hello -- You recently contacted me about the fact that content was removed from the entry for Bob Cesca. I'm actually Bob Cesca himself, and the content I removed was likely added by one of several online stalkers who routinely change my Wikipedia page, adding false information. At one point, one of these stalkers wrote that I'm a member of the KKK, which is absurd. I'm reasonably certain that the content I removed was intended as an insult against me personally. Indeed, Cenk Uygur's remarks about me are irrelevant to knowing who I am, regardless of whether they're positive or negative. heads up on a vandal

Hi I am aware that you are watching the tiger vs lion page. A user called Golden Prime has just made 9 lengthy vandalizing edits - no source, pure opinions, quoting from pure fictions, or made-up statements by combining sources to imply something that the original text didn't say at all. The user can be traced to a few lion fanatic sites. Because he made too many conflicting intermediate edits some edits could not be undone. I manually changed them back to the last accepted version but based on his actions in other sites I expect he won't stop. Is there a way to semi lock the page or revert all his changes with a single click? Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by BigCat82 (talkcontribs) 05:35, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The violator needs to be banned again

Hello Materialscientist. As became known two day ago, actions of this user were banned in English Wikipedia several years ago: he - OneLittleMouse (you banned his page for violations). Currently violations of this user are else more destructive. He does not respect common rules of Wikipedia, and the words of Jimmy Wales - empty space for OneLittleMouse (these noble words are located inside the such rules). The example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons

Here you can understand easy - OneLittleMouse is violator on highest level: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:OneLittleMouse#Notification_to_provide_respect_of_the_rules_of_Wikipedia (Notification to provide respect of the rules of Wikipedia). Brian Bosma and Gay Marriage

Hello, I just pasted: Speaker Brian became embroiled in the Gay Marriage debate in America when a proposed amendment effectively banning gay marriage in Indiana, HJR-3 (formerly HJR-6) came before the House Judiciary Committee on January 14, 2014. It had already passed the legislature in 2011, nearly a decade after the majority of states passed such bans. This amendment, "provides that only marriage between one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Indiana." Yet further stated, "... that a legal status identical or substantially similar to that of marriage for unmarried individuals shall not be valid or recognized." The wording of the second clause was vague enough to warrant a trailer bill clarifying the language, which coincided with a renaming of the bill from HJR-6 to HJR-3.

The House Judiciary Committee met before a packed Senate House that Monday, and listened to testimony from both sides of the debate. However, a decision was not reached and the vote was delayed. This meant that the bill affecting the civil rights of many Indiana citizens would be decided the next week, which began with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The Judiciary committee did not make the decision in the end, when Brian planned either to replace committee members or send the bill to a more favorable committee. Brian chose the latter and the House Elections committee will meet to make a decision on the bill on January 22, 2014.

The newly assigned House Elections committee is made up of 13 members:

  • The committee chairman,Rep. Milo Smith, R-Columbus, voted for the amendment in 2011 and said he will vote for it this year.
  • The committee vice chairwoman,Rep. Kathy Richardson, R-Noblesville, voted for the amendment in 2011 and said she will vote for it this year.
  • Rep. John Bartlett, D-Indianapolis, voted against the amendment in 2011 and has said he will vote against it this year.
  • Rep. Kreg Battles, D-Vincennes, voted for the amendment in 2011. Says he hasn't made a final decision.
  • Rep. Woody Burton, R-Whiteland, voted for the amendment in 2011 and said he will vote for it this year.
  • Rep. Casey Cox, R-Fort Wayne, was not in the legislature is 2011. Declined to say how he would vote but expects amendment to make it to the House floor.
  • Rep. Philip GiaQuinta, D-Fort Wayne, voted against the amendment in 2011 and has said he will vote no again this year.
  • Rep. Terry Goodin, D-Austin, voted for the amendment in 2011. Says he hasn't made a final decision.
  • Rep. Richard Hamm, R-Richmond, was not in the legislature is 2011. Says he is leaning toward voting yes this year but hasn't made a final decision.
  • Rep. Edmond Soliday, R-Valparaiso, voted for the amendment in 2011. Says he hasn't made a final decision.
  • Rep. Holli Sullivan, R-Evansville, was not in the legislature 2011. Says she hasn't made a final decision.
  • Rep. Jeffrey Thompson, R-Lizton, voted for the amendment in 2011 and has said he will vote for it this year.
  • Rep. Timothy Wesco, R-Osceola, voted for the amendment in 2011 and has said he will vote for it this year.

concerning Brian Bosma, and did not include references in an initial save, seconds later, you removed it. I am citing now and adding the above back in, thanks for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Genomizer (talkcontribs) 06:18, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I recently made a change on the scientific information about this plant native of Mexico is important to say the plant
Hechtia glomerata grows only in mexican territory because some people use it as a food , cooking fresh water to drink, if somebody in south texas see this information in wikipedia maebe take a diferent plant as real Huapilla and maebe be a toxic plant. I edit the information about this because the real huapilla grows only in Mexico and some parts in Guatemala but is exclusive from center of Mexico, thats my contribution to wikipedia if you apreciate this change in fine but if you erase my changes i cannot help you anymore.

Propane revisions

Hello, I found your note and wish to respond. The article on propane under the energy content section contained an error, a statement similar to 40.2 kJ/g ... 50 MJ/kg which contradicted itself. As this did not answer the question and contained conflicting information, I went on a search taking much time and aggravation to find the correct answer to my question of how much energy is released by the combustion of propane. I found the information which I considered to be reliable at the NIST, and so, having found my answer I thought to share it with Wikipedia. I do not appreciate your removing the efforts of my work. As it is from the NIST I doubt you can find it inaccurate, so I am left wondering why you so deliberately chose to re-edit the section.

Per the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the heat of combustion of propane is -2219.2 kJ/mol ± 0.46 kJ/mol. The molecular weight of propane is 44.09562 g/mol, and this comes out to be 50.327 MJ/kg ± 0.0104 MJ/kg.

Stealth edits despite ongoing DRN

Dear Materialscientist,

There is currently an ongoing dispute on the Dharmachakra page. Due to 11th hour impasse, I have initiated DRN proceedings at 12:32, 23 January 2014 (UTC). Despite request for all parties to cease edits and talk until DRN over, user Joshua Jonathan is continuing to make edits even at 16:03, 23 January 2014‎, despite his posting on DRN 2 hours before that. To avoid edit warring, I have refrained from reverting them, but could you please request opposing editors to avoid making article changes until DRN is completed? Thank you. Regards, Devanampriya (talk) 17:55, 23 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I removed info I'd added myself, in response to Bladesmulti, with a clear edit-summary. The term "stealth edits" is misplaced, and more appropriate to describe Devanampriya's behaviour: Devanampriya twice removed a {{dubious}}-tag diff diff without mentioning this in his edit-summary, and changed sourced info, namely "Vishnu, the Vedic god of preservation" into "Vishnu, the Hindu god of preservation" diff, also without mentioning this in his edit-summary. See Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard#Dharmachakra for the disputed content. Joshua Jonathan -Let's talk! 07:30, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed that Devanampriya seems to be accusing me of sock-puppetry:
"Thank you for the notification, ThaddeusB. It's surprising that a two day old user has the sophistication to go to ANI at the drop of a hat and is suddenly supporting a "respected and senior editor" (with whom I'm in DRN for another issue as we speak). The timing is even more fortuitous considering I just asked an admin to tell said "respected and senior editor" to stop stealth editing during DRN...I suppose that's why I always preferred sandals to sox...Anyhow, I know admins are very busy, so I don't want to waste any more of your time. Good day, sir." [10]

Not just just accusing, but reporting. Per the etiquette, I have added the SP/I notification on your personal talk. I recommend we cease non-administrative interaction until the investigation is complete. Regards, Devanampriya (talk) 09:55, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cockatoos

Hello Materialscientist.

Regarding the rollback of the page.

I am not sure what primary evidence you need for Baptiste van Fornenburg (1585-1650)

But there are at least two links.

As far as I can ascertain, the watercolour image that includes cockatoos goes by the title :

A Scarlet Blue and Gold Macaw with-Cockatoos and other Birds in a landscape

http://www.wikigallery.org/wiki/artist51474/Jan-Baptist-van-Fornenburgh/page-1

http://www.bridgemanart.com/en-GB/asset/289209/fornenburgh-jan-baptist-van-1608-56/a-scarlet-blue-and-gold-macaw-with-cockatoos-and-other-birds-in-a-landscape-oil-on-panel?search_context=%7B%22url%22%3A%22http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bridgemanart.com%2Fen-GB%2Fsearch%3Ffilter_group%3Dall%26filter_text%3Dcockatoo%22%2C%22filter%22%3A%7B%22filter_bw%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_colour%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_creator_id%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_footage%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_group%22%3A%22all%22%2C%22filter_horizontal%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_image%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_illustration%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_location_id%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_object%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_orientation%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_photograph%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_square%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_supplier_prefix%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_text%22%3A%22cockatoo%22%2C%22filter_text_within_new%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_text_within_queue%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_vertical%22%3Anull%2C%22filter_web_category_id%22%3Anull%2C%22original_filter_text%22%3A%22cockatoo%22%2C%22filter_searchoption_id%22%3A%222%22%7D%2C%22num_results%22%3A%22116%22%2C%22item_index%22%3A%2265%22%2C%22sort_order%22%3A%22best_relevance%22%2C%22search_type%22%3A%22search_assets%22%7D

His work appears to be significantly earlier than Jakob Bongadi who wasn't even born until 1660.

Fornenburg was a noted 'Golden age' flower painter, but like many other dutch & flemish artists of the time, he expanded his repertoire to include animals and birds.

(As an indicator of his interest in things other than flowers, you will see that he added insects into many of his flower paintings.)

Aside from Fornenburg : there are in fact several 'cockatoo' painters who came before Bogdani.

These include : Frans Snyders (1579 1657) : who was a Flemish painter of birds and animals.

Its even possible Snyders may have even been earlier than Fornenburg .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frans_Snyders

http://www.the-athenaeum.org/art/detail.php?ID=130246

Other than these two artists.

Others include (in order of birth) Jan van Kessel 1626- 1679 : David Klocker Ehrenstrahl 1628-1698 : Melchior d’Hondecoeter (1636-1695) & Albert Ecjkhout (1640-1666).

So who actually painted the first cockatoo remains relatively uncertain at this stage of my research.

But there is little doubt it was not Jacob Bogdani : who doesn't appear on the scene for another 40 to 60 years after many of these painters had already included cockatoos in their works.

. . .

Cockatoo or Cockatiel in the air pump ?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/22/An_Experiment_on_a_Bird_in_an_Air_Pump_by_Joseph_Wright_of_Derby%2C_1768.jpg

To my eye, the bird in the glass vessel is a cockatiel.

See image below & compare bird to hand size. It approximates the scales of both hand and bird in the Air Pump Painting.

http://www.scarletmacawpetshop.com/img/birds/cockatiel/albino_cockatiel.JPG

http://www.cockatiels.org/main/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/J1-0373.jpg

It is simply too small to be a cockatoo such as a white cockatoo, a sulphur-crested or yellow cockatoo.

Beak.

The problem arises in relation to the dark color of the beak, but one should also be mindful of the intentional point lighting used by the artist to create a dramatic effect. It is also probable that the artist was familiar with cockatoos and cockatiels; but may not have had one in front of him to draw accurately. So he may have relied on both preparatory sketches and other aids to memory to fill in the details.

As noted : in the phylogenetic order is dispute over whether cockatiels are to be listed as a member of the Cockatoo family.

From my perspective, having grown up in Australia with both as pets and therefore being familiar with their sizes; its far more likely to be a cockatiel than the much larger and more physically robust cockatoos.

I hope all of this helps.

I used to have an account as a Wiki editor. But have since lost it.

You have misunderstood my edition of pellet mill and my links.

First, I would like to tell you that I have professional knowledge on pellet mill and pellet plant. Pellet Plant is so different from pellet mill, pellet mill is kind of stand-alone equipment while pellet plant is an assembly and combination of machines forming a production line including the core machine of pellet mill. Why did you delete my expansion of the definition? You are not entitled to make the random decision. Besides, you are not professional for the pellet mill term. Second, why did you see the link of AGICO on the term of biomass briquette? AGICO is a company linking its business promotion website to biomass briquette but you did not do nothing about it. Your negligence and dereliction of duty should be warned hereby. Otherwise, you should delete AGICO from Wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Outlookcui (talkcontribs) 07:20, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I edited the page because Dan E. Burr is my husband and some of the information was incorrect. His name is not Daniel. His legal name is Danny. Also his birth day is November 14 not the 15th. Bad Faith ANI Filed by Joshua Jonathan

Dear MaterialScientist,

Due to user Joshua Jonathan's apparent sockpuppetry activity, I filed an SP/I against him here. Because the evidence is rather damning, and the proceeding going poorly for him, he just now filed a bad faith ANI against me for his inactive edit war with me (1 week old I should add). He is also outing unrelated anonymous wikipedia editors (see discussion). Filing an ANI for a stale and inactive edit war to get out of an SP/I block or ban is patently bad faith by him and an effort to circumvent SP/I. Please advise or review. Thank you. Necktie article question

Hello!

I see the edit I made was reverted on the necktie article - that's fine; but the reason you cited was that it had no citation or reference. Most of the other knots don't include citations either, so I'm just wondering why you left those in place. I am a #1 bestselling author on the topic of ties and tie knots, so if you wish I can gladly re-edit the article provide a reference to my book (but that could be called spamming).

Misleading template - Aberdeen City Council is likely a UK school-like shared IP, not government in the US sense. I've looked through their edits, decided it is an LTA case, and blocked, sorry for stepping over your decline. Materialscientist (talk) 14:39, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. I am not that anal about having my admin actions overturned. --AdmrBoltz 14:40, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Correct version of Kalukhan?

Hi,

I'm going through the edit history of a vandal (121.52.147.77), undoing his nonsense edits. I saw that you already undid some other vandalism on Kalukhan, but I'm left wondering if you reverted to the right version. I've zero knowledge of the topic, so I thought I'd ask you to confirm you got it right.

User:Mogism seems to be a normal editor, so if I assume his version is a "good" version, here's the difference between his version, and the version after your reverts:

Did you intend for all that text to be removed?

Here's the page's history:

Hope you can give it a look some day. I'm gonna leave it as-is and presume you got it right. Gronky (talk) 01:19, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It was hard to find a good version there, and I've simply reverted unsourced and poorly written additions (by whoever). Materialscientist (talk) 01:36, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"If I replied on your talk page, it means I am watching it [...]"

I thought that those words would mean that you'd be following my talk page and seeing my reply, I don't know, "soon"... But since over 9 hours have passed, I think you aren't, so here, I am copying whatever I wrote to my talk page:

- ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ -

I am not entirely familiar with this type of conversation interface, so I hope it works.

[11]: 6th and last page of that document (38th page of the whole document actually, the rest has been excluded) displays the Arealstatistik, meaning land-use statistics. I am not really German, nor that I live in a German speaking country. I only know German as a foreign language, so my translations might be slightly inaccurate; my understanding, however, should be adequate. Under the Unproduktive Flächen (Unproductive Areas) section in that last page it lists; (1) Stehende Gewässer (still water, like lakes), (2) Fliessgewässer (flowing water, like rivers), and the rest isn't related to the subject...

Table should be all understandable now, as it doesn't involve German anymore: In 2008, the percentile area usage of still water is 0.1% and 2.6% for the flowing water. Altogether 2.7% of the whole land is being occupied by water mass.

I have to say that Wikipedia text formatting looks horrible for conversation. ThoAppelsin (talk) 12:53, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

- ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ -

If you do not reply this time either, I'm afraid that I may simply correct it back without your approval... ThoAppelsin (talk) 22:49, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm I have discovered the brain-police section; An area where chaps, with too much time on their hands, moderate what others say about things written on the internet. As if it even mattered. Cheers, you mean well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.71.132.142 (talk) 23:06, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How to unblock a page

Trying to create Cornerstone OnDemand page and it says you are blocking it. We are not trying to spam or promote any product. All we are doing is putting up company information, it has nothing sales about it at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rnaibok08225 (talkcontribs) 00:29, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Randolph Mantooth age

How can I send you proof if his age? I can't upload a photo to this form from my phone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Parabluemedic (talkcontribs) 02:03, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Randolph Mantooth age 2

http://www.king5.com/new-day-northwest/Medic-One-Foundation-228187861.html?clmob=y& I believe that this has Randolph Mantooth saying how old he was when the show started in1972. If not there are plenty more interviews where he says how old he is.
