:Hi. It's unlikely that the page you are working on will get published. Subjects have to be notable based on independent WP:RS (i.e. not written by the organization that gives out the prize), and this one does not seem to be. Also, it's not a great idea to publish your contact info on Wikipedia. See WP:REALNAME. It's one of the most popular web sites in the world, and you open yourself to harassment or at minimum a truckload of spam. --- Possibly (talk) 16:02, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributuions. I'm not perfect, not an expert, and I guess this thing of drafting articles is a way to improve them or to complete them, so since you did, thank you.Gaudio (talk) 08:03, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Revision as of 08:03, 23 March 2021

Welcome to my talk page. This operates as a normal talk page: you write a message, I reply. After a while I tend to delete items that have been dealt with, such as notices, complaints and old issues. I do tend to keep nice things around for much longer, so keep that in mind.

A barnstar for you!

The Civility Barnstar
In addition to your excellent work on content, I am impressed by your very civil efforts to promote civility. Athough I don't know any magic that changes angry, aggressive editors into polite ones, thanks for being you. HouseOfChange (talk) 01:20, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know if you want me to see about putting you in contact with someone at William & Mary, in case you'd like to do more work on the article - it's my alma mater. :-) I don't know that I have any contacts in the history department specifically, but I might be able to scrounge around and find someone. Funny thing - I read the articles about the former school building, and it's not actually a structure I know well; it's tucked off to one side at the back of Sorority Court, and I never had much call to go around there. I may have passed behind it once or twice on my way to class, but that's about it. Brown Hall, now, the site it used to occupy - that dorm I know reasonably well. Regardless, I intend to get a few pictures this fall when I'm down for Homecoming, assuming that we have one.

About Ann Wager: I, personally, do not think that an article would go amiss, I'm an avowed inclusionist - others might suggest instead that she should be wrapped into the article on the school. Regardless: the woman who portrays her is a grad student in W&M's American Studies program, and I have a Facebook friend (a former college classmate) who I believe used to teach in that department as well. So I can see about putting you in touch with her, if you want to pick her brain - no guarantees, though. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 16:31, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ser Amantio di Nicolao: Thanks for the kind offer. I think I am pretty much done on that article and am going to leave to others. It's a good story. I agree on Ann Wager, but was curious as it's a bit borderline. Possibly (talk) 16:56, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, any time - anything I can do to promote W&M. :-) By the by, I did take a few pictures of Sorority Court for Commons a couple of years ago, but I just checked - they're all from the other end, so there's no picture of the former school building there. No matter - as I say, I can get one the next time I'm there. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 17:03, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ser Amantio di Nicolao: I went ahead and created Ann Wager, so have at it if you like. Possibly (talk) 19:01, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good. I'll nose about a bit and see about adding a little more, and maybe will drop a line to my friend as well. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:02, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you can get them to upload a few pictures that would be really helpful. Unrelated, but here's a crazy 1930s picture of the house being moved down the street, towards the campus! Possibly (talk) 21:16, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. Meantime, I did find this on Commons, which I took in 2018: Brown Hall, which is the dorm currently on the school building's original site. As to moving the school building, I have to say, I'm impressed they managed to fit it down Prince George Street, which really isn't that wide...thankfully it's a move of about a block, maybe a bit less. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:20, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help with the Flajolet Prize draft

Possibly I am very thankful that you helped with the draft of the Flajolet Prize entry. Thank you very much! I realize now that I did not need to have a long block quote from the prize description. Instead, now I added a description of some of the scientific areas where the recipients work.

I am open to more suggestions, if you have more things to suggest. Thank you very much for considering!

Hi. --- Possibly (talk) 16:02, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
