Hello Trasel, my name is Kevin Felts and I am the owner of www.survivalistboards.com. I posted a comment on the Survivalism talk page about adding a link to Survivalist Boards, instead of that, how about a wikipedia page about the forum?

<center>This user is no longer active on Wikipedia.</center>
Survivalist Boards is more then just a forum, its on Youtube, Metacafe, Dailymotion, Yahoo Video, Facebook, My Space, and several other video hosting sites. Just the youtube channel alone has over 12,000 subscribers.

To complement the forum, I also have a blog www.survivalboards.com.

The forum has well over 1 million post and around 24,000 members. We get around 3.5 - 3.6 million page views monthly 21kev (talk) 20:10, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Open carry
Hi Trasel. Thanks for your message to me regarding the Open Carry article. I do want to avoid getting into an edit war. My intent in the changes I made was to adhere to the NPOV policy as well as to make sure quotes are verifiable. I went into more detail on the talk page of the entry.

Thanks for pointing out that the article on the history of U.S. gun legislation in the nineteenth century. Good stuff.

:Thanks for all the great improvements to the Open carry article, especially for making it more globalized and adding so many helpful verifiable citations. Keep up the good work! Cheers. N2e (talk) 05:55, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Categorization
Regarding this Why do you want your user page in mainspace categories? The guideline Wikipedia:Categorization#Project categories specifically says not to do this, "User pages are not articles, and thus do not belong in content categories...user subpages that are draft versions of articles should be kept out of content categories. If you copy an article from mainspace to userspace and it already contains categories, remove them or comment them out. Restore the categories when you move the draft back into article space." --maclean 03:35, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Two wiki policies seem to be in conflict. The Wiki policy on article development specifically encourages using a Sandbox section at a User 's page. So I did so. It was not my intent for those DRAFT categories to show up in mainspace. My apologies. I have removed them. Trasel (talk) 03:49, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Incorrect link
Hi, nice article. This link is incorrect and goes to a different person than the one named:

California
Mayor Todd Campbell, Burbank

Your recent edits
In regards to Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition, I am glad to see that after reverting my edits you repeated at least some of them, and that you, in your edit summary, seemed to agree that only firearms-related incidents are relevant here. Still, I see that only Frank Melton, Ray Nagin, and Gerald Jennings have anything related to guns in their entries. (Dan Malloy's son is not relevant here.) I don't see how Kilpatrick's affair or Langford's corruption are at all relevant on the page for the organization: it is simply smearing the organization by explaining how dirty some of its members are. I will be happy to learn of your rationale. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 03:14, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

::What is relevant here is that every one of the indicted or convicted members (from the first of the two long paragraphs that I added) are up on FELONY charges. Here in the US, conviction of felony means the immediate loss of both the right to vote and the right to own a gun for the rest of one's life. So each of those remaining entries are COMPLETELY relevant. Here we have an organization that espouses doing away with "illegal guns", yet a surprising number of their members have made choices in their lives that have set themselves on the path to being disenfranchised from ever owning a gun. That includes Kilpatrick's and Langford. (Kilpatrick is already a convicted felon, and Langford is awaiting trial on his own felony charges.)

::I can see your point about Mayor Malloy, since his son is now an adult, and presumably not living at Malloy's home (a guess on my part), and hence he no longer has any control over his son's actions. I will go ahead and delete that mention. Your point is well-taken, and I appreciate your willingness to look at this in a neutral, detached manner.

::Personal character and integrity are prerequisites for anyone entering public office, to serve in an elected position of "special trust and confidence", such as a mayorship. Abuses of that trust, gross lapses of integrity, and forays into criminal conduct are not tolerated in our society. If anything, elected politicians are held to a higher standard than the general public, and their actions are closely watched. For an elected official to become a criminal, when they themselves are entrusted to protect us from criminals is nearly the most heinous and unforgivable thing imaginable in a democracy. For some of these same individuals to continue to be considered members in good standing of a "crime-fighting" organization--and not even censured by the organization--is absolutely ludicrous. Sincerely Trasel (talk) 04:36, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
:::Trasel, thanks for your response. However, I cannot agree with you on all these issues. I'm not denying that (some of) these people are scum in one way or another. But that their scumminess, via their losing the right to bear arms, reflects poorly on the organization, that is a leap--it is as if you're implying that because they can't play with guns, they're saying we can't either. It sounds like synthesis to me, if not like soapboxing. I mean, it's not like Langford's trial should be brought up in the article of every organization or charity he belongs or belonged to, right? Are you adding this to Alabama Adventure and Fairfield, Alabama? BTW, I have to disagree with your somewhat optimistic assessment that "Abuses of that trust, gross lapses of integrity, and forays into criminal conduct are not tolerated in our society"--a lot of them are getting away with it! Drmies (talk) 04:48, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

For my response, see my update to the article talk page, where I expanded on my initial reply to you. Thanks again for your well-reasoned, professional, non-confrontational, and civil discourse on these issues. Trasel (talk) 05:10, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
:Likewise. If Orrin Hatch and Ted Kennedy could get along, well, then so should we. You pick who you wanna be! Drmies (talk) 15:34, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Fincen organized crime watch list
removing evidence of crimes is correlated to sponsorship of said crimes.

Removing references to an un-cite-able police document has put you on the watchlist for sponsors of organized crime and financial crimes.

::In response to the author of the preceding unsigned comment: I assume that you posted this to my Talk page because I recently deleted a totally unfounded and unreferenced assertion at the wiki page on HavenCo. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=HavenCo&diff=prev&oldid=314034916 from an anonymous editor at the IP address 75.208.229.124 .

" The prior policy research entity "HavenCo" having used the url http://HavenCo.com is no longer operating as it has not been extended from its original 10 year authority.
This was a joint project between the Connecticut State Judicial Marshals Service of New Haven County, FBI New Haven, Treasury Secret Service, Yale University and various other participants.
The goal of the project was to investigate the plausibility and implementation of an offshore money laundering and harboring facility, similar to Connecticut's Native American casinos."
You might try re-posting that over at the Conspiracy Theory page, where you can find kindred spirits.. Trasel (talk) 15:27, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

Gun shows
Just an FYI, one of your edits at Gun show was incorrect, presumably because you didn't read the sentence in full and assumed there was redundancy where there was none. Just reminding you to be a bit more careful in the future (I've already fixed the offending edit). --ShadowRangerRIT (talk) 21:09, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Removal f George Mason reference on Second Amendment article
The article has this

<blockquote>
Also at the Virginia Ratifying Convention, George Mason showed his distrust of Congress and the possibility that it would not fund the arming for the militia as an excuse for the creation of a standing army, which could later to be used as an instrument of tyranny by Congress.[59]
</blockquote>

This is a summary of the cited material found in Elliot's Debates

Article cite 59 was as follows - Elliot, Debates of the Several State Conventions 3:380, 3:425

See text from Book in question at Library of Congress - page 380

<blockquote>
No man has a greater regard for the military gentlemen than I have. I admire their intrepidity, perseverance, and valor. But when once a standing army is established in any country, the people lose their liberty. When, against a regular and disciplined army, yeomanry are the only defence,--yeomanry, unskilful and unarmed,--what chance is there for preserving freedom? Give me leave to recur to the page of history, to warn you of your present danger. Recollect the history of most nations of the world. What havoc, desolation, and destruction, have been perpetrated by standing armies! An instance within the memory of some of this house will show us how our militia may be destroyed. Forty years ago, when the resolution of enslaving America was formed in Great Britain, the British Parliament was advised by an artful man,* who was governor of Pennsylvania, to disarm the people; that it was the best and most effectual way to enslave them; but that they should not do it openly, but weaken them, and let them sink gradually, by totally disusing and neglecting the militia. [Here Mr. Mason quoted sundry passages to this effect.] This was a most iniquitous project. Why should we not provide against the danger of having our militia, our real and natural strength, destroyed? The general government ought, at the same time, to have some such power. But we need not give them power to abolish our militia. If they neglect to arm them, and prescribe proper discipline, they will be of no use. I am not acquainted with the military profession. I beg to be excused for any errors I may commit with respect to it. But I stand on the general principles of freedom, whereon I dare to meet any one. I wish that, in case the general government should neglect to arm and discipline the militia, there should be an express declaration that the state governments might arm and discipline them. With this single exception, I would agree to this part, as I am conscious the government ought to have the power.

They may effect the destruction of the militia, by rendering the service odious to the people themselves, by harassing them from one end of the continent to the other, and by keeping them under martial law.

Hi Trasel. I saw your note on your user page about leaving. It would be sad to see you go as your contribution to survival-related articles has been outstanding. Here's hoping you stick around. :) <span style='color: #FFFF33;background-color: #125B0B;'>Surv1v4l1st</span> <span style="font-size:8px">(Talk|Contribs)</span> 20:05, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

:I appreciate your kind words. Although we've never corresponded, I've noticed your edits, and can see that we are kindred spirits. I am just fed up with the liberal cabal politics of Wikipedia. The wiki-lawyering has reached absurd proportions. (According to a Wiki Lawyer, when a tree falls in the forest, not only does it not make a sound, but it did't actually even FALL unless it was reported by a second party source.) There are now TWO sets of notability standards: One for liberal topics and one for conservative topics. It seems that any obscure, unpublished wheelchair-bound communist lesbian latina poet with AIDS can have a wiki page, but not most conservatives. So now... the degeneration of wikipedia has become so bad that a best-selling book in Amazon's top 10 gets AFD nominated as non-notable--either out of spite or for political conformity. Therefore, I've concluded that it is time for me to fold my tent, and move on to greener pastures, where there is less bias. Have you seen Conservapedia? Trasel (talk) 20:20, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

::I know of Conservapedia, but haven't spent any time at it, so not really familiar with it. Too bad there isn't a survival/prepper-specific Wiki. That would be an interesting repository of prep-related data. :)
::As an inclusionist, I can certainly feel your frustration about the mad dash to deletion that seems to come up from time to time.
::Anyway, as mentioned before, I appreciate your tireless efforts on the survival-related articles. It is most appreciate. <span style='color: #FFFF33;background-color: #125B0B;'>Surv1v4l1st</span> <span style="font-size:8px">(Talk|Contribs)</span> 20:32, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
