Second ever Wiki Angel Award

The Wiki Angel Award
Ariel, I know you haven't edited in awhile, but I think of you often and I hope you are doing well. You have always been a true Wiki Angel and we all miss you. PumpkinSky talk 18:35, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, Thank you SO much PumpkieWumpkie (Yes, I just gave you a completely stupidly embarassing nickname, but you could consider it an honor, since this is my first edit to my talk page in over THREE YEARS!!! :)

But seriously, (am I ever?) thank you, and wow. And wow have I forgotten more than I ever knew, and then some! It seems I should be able to indent this under your box, but do I remember HOW to do that? Of course I do not! Because I am a dolt with a degenerative brain disease! I'm lucky there's an auto-sign on the edit box!

(And I'm not kidding, I really don't remember how to edit, how to make things bold, and how MUCH [I'm sure tons] of the policies have changed, so I'll have to get my ancient aging sick brain to figure stuff out, and will probably have a ton of questions. My first one is:

Does ANYONE remember me? If you do, how do you make something bold? LOL!)

ArielGold 01:52, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back after ... three and a half years?!? Bold is '''bold''', and I don't blame you for forgetting after that long. Acroterion (talk) 01:56, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ohhhhh It is the colon! YAY Someone remembered me. And bold is the thingies, you know, the thingies. YAY! Thanks Acro!!! You rock! ArielGold 02:02, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of colon jokes come to mind, and I was at a loss for the name of the thingies too - single quotes, I suppose. Glad you're back and feeling better, I hope. By the way, PumpkinSky used to be Rlevse, just so you know. Acroterion (talk) 02:11, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Acro--she's well aware of it. Ariel--great to see you back and hope you can keep editing.PumpkinSky talk 02:17, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wasn't quite sure whether she'd kept up with username changes. Ariel, what page needs to be unlocked? Acroterion (talk) 02:19, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I didn't know about the name change!!! (Or maybe I did and don't remember?) But I knew R would find me no matter what, lol. Now I want to know the reason for the change, lmao. Feel free to email me or text me to explain. But I still can't figure out how to post on a talk page and have it go to the bottom, I tried to on Pumpkie's page, but it didn't work... and I was afraid I'd erase all the stuff that was on there so I didn't edit. I'm an idiot. ArielGold 02:37, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back.▪◦▪≡SiREX≡Talk 02:40, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Sirex!!!! Wow, three people remember me! Heheheheh. But this just looks odd, shouldn't there be lines between each person's post? Or something, I can't figure this new talk page out!!! ArielGold 02:43, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

________

And I lost all my archives. I don't see them anywhere, and can't figure out how to put what I archived into a page. I thought I used to have a link to archives, but it seems to be gone. I wonder if all the pages of archives are gone, too... I guess that's question 1.

Question 2: How do I make a space between paragraphs or topics?

Question 3: How can I get a post to be at the bottom of the page? I tried to post on Pumpkie's page and it just showed nothing and I was afraid it would erase everything so I didn't hit save. I'm seriously frustrated!!! ArielGold 02:42, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okay yeah, I just looked at some user pages, and these posts aren't showing up in my table of contents, so I'm doing something majorly wrong... ArielGold 02:47, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your archives are listed here [1] and your userspace subpages are here [2]. Paragraph breaks are two full returns (one line of whitespace), or a section break with the double = brackets, colon, etc. For posting at the bottom, scroll down to the bottom, bearing in mind that WP does everything the hard way, even with respect to the editing interface. And of course all is reversible, so you won't break the wiki if you screw up. Acroterion (talk) 02:49, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But when I click 'edit' at the top, I see it says post new things at the bottom of this part, and I do, but it showed up at the top! I don't know why!! And what happened to the link on this page that showed my archives? I can't find that either. And everyone who knows me knows when I get frustrated I give up... and I'm seriously frustrated, lol.
Does vandalism happen still? Is it all reverted by bots now? Is there still a page that you post ... oh I forget, dang my brain... something, a page that you reported bad posts that an admin went and fixes? Or warns people? Do warnings still exist, and blocks? Jeez... R we gotta talk on the phone to catch me up. lol. Acro, you rock for answering my obvious stupid questions, I do seriously think that I've lost all memory of things, I still don't get how to make a topic, the thing that is numbered in the TOC, like on your talk page, I tried, and it previewed and it was at the top so I didn't post it. *sigh* (Edit: Arrrghhhhh, it doesn't keep indents indented. I need to figure out how to make this a new numbered conversation. Somehow. Omg, it is 11pm, ahhhh!!!! ArielGold 02:55, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If you make a new section Using the + tab), it'll show up at the top of your editing window, but it'll go in at the bottom of the page as a new section when you save.
As for vandals, we don't have any, the bots take care of that, and we all have flying cars now. Seriously, most vandalism gets nabbed by bots (which give warnings) or the somewhat Orwellianly-named edit filter, but we still have plenty of vandals, and 14-year-olds are just as smutty as ever. I'll look for your archive box, but it's 11 PM here too, so it might be tomorrow. Acroterion (talk) 03:08, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ahh! Ariel! It's so good to see you editing! I've missed you and hope you stick around awhile. ♥♥♥♥ Keilana|Parlez ici 05:24, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WB, Ariel! Long time no see! --MikeVitale 01:30, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mikey!!! And Kei and Acalamari, and I DO remember you Gerda ;) Thank you for the page change, I didn't even know it existed, and I'm glad that it does! And who did I forget? Anyone? Bueller... Bueller? I pretty much messed up this page, though, didn't I? lol. Sorry for all the wonky edits, I still can't remember how to make a smiley face, or how to make things numbered, I thought it was just the number symbol in front of the sentence, but it keeps just saying 1 1 1 1 for each line, so I gave up the edit I wanted to make. And now, my aching aging body is screaming at me after a day at the Church Team Huddle Party (I got to ride in a wheelbarrow! Big burly guy pushing me around, less than 80lbs, we SO won that part of the relay. Totally owned. Sadly, the hoola hooper didn't hoop well enough and we came in second, lol. Goodnight, and Suena con las angelitas, Ohana. (Yes, I do realize that is more than one language. I could add some French in there too if anyone cared...) Grrr, need a winky smiley face!! ;) ArielGold 03:18, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Testing...

I don't want this at the top!!!

HA! Got it. I'll have to figure out where the page is to report those pesky 14 year olds. (No, that's not age-ism, I guess it *could* be a bit predjudiced, but meant in just a general sense, so all you GOOD 14 year old editors, take no offense. :) ) Dang, forgot how to make smiley faces too... ArielGold 03:21, 19 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewer

Per your note on my talkpage, I've given you the "reviewer" right, which was implemented, then withdrawn, then reinstated over the past couple of years. It allows a gentler moderation for moderate-traffic articles that need to have some oversight for BLP reasons, genre trolling, etc. Reviewers can accept or reject changes and are themselves auto-reviewed. It was being kicked around when you started your break, to be mainly applied to BLPs.

Feel free to ask me questions as they occur to you. Real life has suddenly gotten busy this week for me, so I may not be around a lot, but I'm sure your talkpage stalkers or mine can help. Acroterion (talk) 11:46, 20 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oy... Thank you dearly! But what is BLP? I'm not sure what the new "rights" do, and wouldn't want to edit something without understanding them first. Like how I review all the preferences, options, etc., before ever using a new computer program, so I know what it does and can't do. I think the majority of people who used to watch my talk page have given up, and if I remember right, the amount of edits coming in, good or bad, makes a comment on someone's page scroll right off in just a few minutes, or faster.
I remember vaguely the conversation about having someone review changes to the FAs and GAs, but it seemed that it flew in the face of defiance if implemented, it would no longer be a fully 'free' editable online encyclopia. I imagine it is just for Good Articles and above? I mean, who would want to review all the thousands of "picachoo" (or however it is spelled) articles? Who even reads them?? But what's BLP? And thank you very much, Acro! ArielGold 22:34, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
BLP = Biography of a Living Person. Nothing to do with GAs and FAs, just a way to keep libel away. Happily, Pokemon has subsided as an area of vast interest, replaced now by professional wrestling and mixed martial arts ... Acroterion (talk) 22:38, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Oh...I remembered what BLP is. Just took my brain a while to figure it out, heh. (P.S. I'm looking at the code to my sig, and it *should* lead the word "Gold" to my talk page, but doesn't. I can't see any difference between the way it is coded in 'Ariel', do you have any idea what I have wrong?) ArielGold 22:41, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think that's just because you're on your talk, the code looks right to me... Keilana|Parlez ici 22:53, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ohhhhh DUH DUH DUH!!!!!! I did know that, really, I did! I was just testing you, Kei. ;) But when is someone going to teach me how to make REAL smiley faces!!! Heh. ArielGold 22:54, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I thought of you! You were one of the first friends I made here as well and I wouldn't be half the editor or human being I am now without you. (By the way, I don't think there's a heart emoticon so you're not missing anything!) <3 Keilana|Parlez ici 23:16, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm SO happy you're back!! And I know, I just know there is a picture code for a heart face thing or something, I used to have... some program or plug in or something that had a bar in the edit area with picture emoticons you just clicked on, but I can't find it, have no idea what it was called, and doubt it is even still around, but the pictures have to still be there. I just don't remember where to find them... ArielGold 21:02, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

If you need any help. here i am Miss Bono (zootalk) 18:58, 3 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Miss Bono! ArielGold 20:52, 9 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Huh.... I think I got too used to Facebook, even though I don't really use it much now

When I couldn't edit here, I would use Facebook with my Kindle, and I think I got way too used to the "Like" Button. Where is that button on here? Heh. Would be nice. Facebork now has hijakked Twinker's "Hashtag" (although I just read about it on AppyGeek, haven't actually gone there to see where or how it is used, can't really figure out how that would work with Facebork...)

Anyway, I need to figure out if there are any plug ins or anything that let you keep track of watched pages easily, I know I used to use some, and there was a standalone program that scrolled all edits, showing how many chars, easy to see major edits or vandals, do those still exist? Any scripts you can put in somehwere? I know there's a page that I'd put stuff in, forget what it was called, only I (or admins) could edit it, but it would put extra stuff on the side bar, or in the editing area, or put up a split screen showing watched pages. Or I guess IRC, if anyone wants to drop me off the specs for that, channel, server, login info... I don't think my name is still saved, I know I had it registered and saved, but doubt it lasts 3 years or more, it's been over 3 I guess... Not like I can't redo it but I don't remember any of that stuff, hows, where, who, what.... email or feel free to post here. (And as proof of how bad my illness has affected my memory, is there any "private messaging" here? I seriously can't remember... kinda doubt it, with the "open" policy, but seems almost all policies have changed.)

Still trying to find something familiar, nobody runs for admin/crat anymore? I went to that page, it looks totally dead. Does the bot that watched it still run? I have it at the bottom of my user page, but it looks abandonded to me.

ISO: all info at once, preferably via osmosis or diffusion while I sleep. Thanks! (Ha ha ha... yeah, folks, that ironical sarcastic sesnse of humor is still in here somewhere. Although I had to stop using it, because I got tired of being stared at.) ArielGold 08:02, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of discussion on RfA - there are codes for stuff - as a content editor I find pagesize the most useful one - see User:Dr pda/prosesize.js - there are a bunch of them...never used any codes for watchlist...I recently deleted mine when it hit 10000 and would never load on my phone :P .Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 11:24, 13 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WONDERFUL!!! YOU'RE BACK!!!!

I'VE MISSED YOU!!!!! Both as a friend and as a mentor. To be truthful, I was afraid you were never coming back - so I deleted your email address from my list. There were times when I'd see an image you'd like and think of you, but... And I've forgotten how to email through Wikipedia.

I haven't a clue what RL or DSC stand for. I've been editing here in my slap-dash fashion, and added some new articles. Unfortunately I didn't know that "Do You Know..." had a 5-day limit, so I can't add them.

Send me an email, so I can add you to my list again.

You're back?? Really back?? Squeeeee!!!! it's been *so* long!! Welcome back <3 - Alison 08:35, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OMGosh! I am back! Sort of... Thanks to the superstorms in the NE, my water pipes froze, then burst, and the "apartment" I moved into has no insulation, with all heat on it can't get above 35 degrees... so I had to leave the hovel I was in, and my computer, until this below freezing weather passes... If it ever does, heh. Over 10 feet of snow plowed up in piles on the side of all roads, they haven't thawed, really nasty driving conditions since the first do the year... And it is tough to edit on a tablet, but I'm trying! I've missed you, Alli!!! <3 ArielGold 03:46, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Squee!

Yay! You're back! Hooray! Hooray! If you'd like to do something fun, I have Homer Davenport up for peer review right now. It's a fun article on a fellow who died in 1912 and this peer review should be a friendly place with Wehwalt and myself as the primary editors. Dana boomer is also giving it a peer review, but it would be super good to have a non-horsey and a not-necessarily-a-historian editor look it over to see how it reads and flows to a layperson. Our goal is to get it to FAC, so feel free to be thorough, it's not our first rodeo. Montanabw(talk) 03:39, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Montanaaaaa!! Wow, a non horsie entry! Good job! But you still rock the equine corner! Even when I couldn't edit, I could read on my phone, and knew you were still hard at work! So glad you are still here! Hugsssss!! ArielGold 03:48, 9 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page appearance

Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of the article List of International Space Station spacewalks know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on December 2, 2013. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/December 2, 2013. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors Giants2008 (talk · contribs), Crisco 1492 (talk · contribs) or SchroCat (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. Thanks! © Tbhotch (en-2.5). 01:02, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ArielGold, please note that I have moved the Main Page appearance date back to December 23, to coincide with a possible spacewalk date. Giants2008 (Talk) 03:15, 28 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oooh, how wonderful! I put many, many hours into the EVA page, keeping up the total times and breaking the stats down... I have kept them in a spreadsheet, but have not found a reliable (and accurate) tally on NASA anymore, ever since the engineer who did the ISS daily summary for so many years passed away, the stats have been off... I. Glad to see others have kept up the individual EVA stats though! And a main page entry when they took the torch out, so awesome! Thanks for keeping me in the loop!
