Tej Kohli Foundation Page deleted

Hi!

This is in regard with the deletion of Tej Kohli Foundation Page. The page was not intended for self promotion, somebody else with malicious intentions changed the content of the page that made it sound like self-promotion. This page has been on wikipedia for around 7 months and is very essential to give people an overview of what Tej Kohli Foundation is all about. The foundation is actively involved in various noble causes all over the world and has recently organized a walk for vision campaign in India. I request you to look into this matter and help us revive this page.

  1. "somebody else with malicious intentions changed the content of the page that made it sound like self-promotion" - I doubt so. The latest version that I deleted still sounded like self-promotion. And the person who created it? You.
  2. "very essential to give people an overview of what Tej Kohli Foundation is all about" - wrong, there are other avenues to promote your organisation besides Wikipedia. For example, newspapers. Or television. Or radio. An organisation as famous as yours should find it easier to use these other means instead.
  3. "The foundation is actively involved in various noble causes all over the world" - then there should be info on these involvements from third-party, reliable sources - not from the foundation itself.
  4. "help us revive this page" - unless you can show evidence to satisfy point #3 above, the page is not worth reviving. Wikipedia is not the place to increase awareness of your organisation.
Thank you for reading. Kimchi.sg (talk) 15:58, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

He has been reveiwed in Wire Magazine and a Future Star article in Future Music Magazine (FM163 July 2005). Full article in Taiwan Magazine Dream Case 02 (isbn 986-82024-1-8)

As far as I am aware you have to have been played on the BBC in some form to have a bbc page. I will try and locate tracklist/playlists for his plays. Good day. The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation's page was deleted for "unambiguous advertising." It was not our intent to advertise on WikiPedia, so how do we get our page reinstated? Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.183.157.50 (talkcontribs)

Well, there were no citations from third-party, reliable sources in the deleted article to show how this organisation satisfies our notability guidelines. If you can provide some it'd be a good start. Kimchi.sg (talk) 16:52, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some foundation

Sir,

I request you to please consider our page Tej Kohli Foundation. Our foundation is more than five years old and is registered in San Jose, Costa Rica. Apart from the supporting the various causes for children welfare, education etc. Tej Kohli foundation is now spreading its wings in India through a Gurgaon based NGO Nirmaya to spread awareness on eye donation and corneal transplants. Through this page we want to reach out to millions of people in india who are still oblivious of this sad fact. We're not trying to accumulate any donations, since Tej Kohli foundation is a self-financed organization. I request you to give us a chance, if there are any changes you think are required, please suggest. We'll incorporate those changes and make the page suitable as per wikipedia standards.

you may check the links to verify: http://www.hindustantimes.com/Gurgaon-residents-wake-up-to-Walk-for-Vision/Article1-593520.aspx http://www.tej-kohli-foundation.com/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.177.40.7 (talk) 06:14, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As I understand it, part of being listed on WikiPedia includes being a "notable" organization. In March of this year, Viking published a book called "Trust the Dog," the story of Fidelco as told by our staff and clients. To date in 2010, we have garnered 200 "hits" in print media and according to Metro Media, we have 85 TV and radio hits. Additionally, we have had 22,201 uniques visitors to our website and Charity Navigator has rated us a four-star 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization for the fourth year in a row. And this week, we were, once again, accredited by the International Guide Dog Federation. Does this satisfy the notability requirement? Thank you.

Let's examine your claims according to our guidelines.
  1. "a book called "Trust the Dog," the story of Fidelco as told by our staff and clients." - so that disqualifies it as a independent source.
  2. "we have garnered 200 "hits" in print media and according to Metro Media, we have 85 TV and radio hits" - this is totally irrelevant to notability.
  3. "Additionally, we have had 22,201 uniques visitors to our website" - more irrelevant info.
  4. "Charity Navigator has rated us a four-star" - any mdetailed coverage about this in third-party, reliable sources?
  5. "accredited by the International Guide Dog Federation." - again, any coverage in independent reliable sources?
  6. "Does this satisfy the notability requirement?" - without the additional info I've asked for in previous points, no.
  7. "Thank you." - Thank you for reading. Kimchi.sg (talk) 02:36, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I am inquiring about international decision systems

The page has been deleted before; however, I wrote this article in my own words referenced by online articles.

I believe I have met the wiki guideline. If there is a problem please let me know and I will fix it quickly.

Thank you :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dkordopitoulas (talkcontribs) 15:33, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  1. "I am inquiring about international decision systems" - What an inauspicious way to start your request - by getting the name of your article wrong. Wikipedia titles are case-sensitive.
  2. "The page has been deleted before;" - Thank you for your keen observation.
  3. "however, I wrote this article in my own words" - That has never been the cause of your article's deletions.
  4. "referenced by online articles." - You mean like [1], [2], and [3]? None of these are third-party, reliable sources, which is required by our guidelines.
  5. "I believe I have met the wiki guideline." - I believe you have not.
  6. "If there is a problem please let me know and I will fix it quickly." - Yes, just provide two articles which cover this company in detail and are from third-party, reliable sources.
  7. "Thank you :)" - Thank you for reading. Kimchi.sg (talk) 02:48, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see, nothing in either article has been copied from the given URL. Kimchi.sg (talk) 03:48, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete the BuyBernie page? It was clear that it was about a BUSINESS and not about a WEBSITE! I trust the likes of Gumtree and Olx will too be deleted! They too offer nothing of significance! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.243.77.17 (talk) 18:50, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the criteria that lets me delete articles about websites which don't assert their notability also applies to businesses. So it makes no difference in your case. Kimchi.sg (talk) 03:44, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was just looking at that CSD, which you deleted. I did not see any records of a previously deleted page. Did I miss something or did you not look before deleting the page with the CSD template? I hate to assume the later, so I seriously hope I am wrong about this. --Selket Talk 04:33, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In fact, I just noticed that this was a repost as the previous admin declined the same request. --Selket Talk 04:35, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Kimchi.sg (talk) 04:45, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kimchi.sg. I'd been hearing about the 7 year Muslim climate change plan from several offline sources, tried to look it up on Wikipedia, and noticed that the article The Muslim Seven Year Action Plan on Climate Change (M7YAP) had just gotten deleted; that seemed like a shame, so I decided to research and write an all-new article that addressed the issues discussed in the deletion discussion of the prior article. The new article is 100% new text, written by an entirely unrelated editor.

I noticed that Muslim Seven Year Action Plan on Climate Change was suddenly speedily deleted, which confuses the heck out of me! I believe this is a mistake, and that the article should be undeleted. CSD G4 states "This excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version, pages to which the reason for the deletion no longer applies." The new article is 100% different text, and is written so that the reason for the deletion (notability, self-references) no longer applies. The new article:

  • includes 8 references from 6 different sources, including coverage of the subject in mainstream English-language environmental media like the Environment News Network and Living on Earth (a well-known US public radio program)
  • contextualizes notability by describing links to the United Nations Development Programme, the Kuwaiti government, and several other named government and religious figures

Thank you in advance for undeleting the page.

Incubation for International Decision Systems article?

Hi Kimchi.sg. First I want to say thank you for your years of service keeping Wikipedia clean. I would like to ask that the International Decision Systems article be undeleted and moved to the Article Incubator on behalf of User:Dkordopitoulas. This user seems to be willing to spend the time and effort to learn the rules. I have found a few references to satisfy notability and I would like to spend the next week or two teaching them WP:N, WP:V, WP:RS and especially WP:NPOV. I would also like to teach them how to properly use talk pages and think this is the perfect opportunity. I hope to turn this user in to a valuable contributor and would like to have your support. Thanks for your time and consideration. -      Hydroxonium (talk) 05:49, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One more favor to ask. Could you delete Talk:International Decision Systems please? I think it will mess things up once the fixed up article is moved from the Incubator to article mainspace. Thanks. -      Hydroxonium (talk) 06:49, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you delete the entry of bettercodes.org? if you delete this you need also delete many other entries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sandrafromgermany (talkcontribs) 16:31, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My answer. Kimchi.sg (talk) 04:05, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Bettercodes.org

Hey, how can we improve the Bettercodes.org page so it becomes undeleted?

1. Reliable third-party sources: Because it was deleted before we included more external sources to the article ([[4]] or [[5]]). 2. We have changed the content to explain relevant info about the open source project since we do not want to promote a website. Bettercodes is an open source project based on Wordpress and BuddyPress 3. There are many articles about famous open source projects/services on Wikipedia such as Gitorious, Github or BuddyPress. We used the same pattern to provide relevant information only.

We really want to know how to meet the Wikipedia notability guidelines and make our text a valid source. Thanks!— Preceding unsigned comment added by Gottowik (talkcontribs)

  1. "Hey, how can we improve the Bettercodes.org page so it becomes undeleted?" - Hey, you can't improve a page after it's gone.
  2. "Because it was deleted before we included more external sources" - That is not true. Those references were in the final deleted version and I considered them to make little difference. The Wordpress link is invalid for asserting this site's notability because it is not a non-trivial coverage of the site. This is not useful for evaluating notability either because it is self-published and hence not a reliable source. Other references cited were:
    1. [6], [7], [8] - Straight-away inapplicable for asserting notability. Not even legitimate sources because they are from the site itself. You cannot cite the site itself in an article about the site.
    2. [9] - Not a reliable source because freely editable by anyone. As a rule of thumb, blogs and wikis are not to be cited as references.
    3. [10], [11] - Trivial mentions.
  3. "We have changed the content to explain relevant info" - Without detailed coverage in multiple reliable sources, the info just constitutes original research, which is not allowed.
  4. "There are many articles about famous open source projects/services" - And you aren't famous at this point in time. Just get used to it. Wikipedia is not the route to make your site famous.
  5. "how to meet the Wikipedia notability guidelines" - When your site becomes famous elsewhere?
  6. "Thanks!" - Thank you for reading. Kimchi.sg (talk) 08:26, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
