Shortcuts
Please review the AWB guide before making a request. Users are rarely approved unless they have either 250 non-automated mainspace edits or 500 total mainspace edits. You can check your non-automated contributions on XTools. Administrators are automatically approved and do not need to request access. For bots, you must first have a bot approval request approved, or in trial; link to your BRFA in the request.
This page is for requesting AWB Access for English Wikipedia only. Other projects have their own check pages and you should ask administrators there to add you.
If approved, your name will be added to the CheckPage. If you will make many or fast automated edits using AWB, you may wish to use a separate (or bot) account for that purpose; first create the account, give it a userpage declaring it to be your alternate account, then make the request using your main account.

I understand, but I would be grateful if you could give me a bit more information. Does typo fixing count as substantive edits? If no, then how is typo fixing a starting use for AWB.

Typo fixing is fine as something to do with AWB, but I would not call it a "substantive" edit and it doesn't seem right to count it as a "non-automated edit" either (even if you truly did perform them without any kind of automation), and not doing so would put you clearly below the criteria. I interpreted the idea behind that requirement was more about what the edits did and less about the non-observable requirement of how they were done, and making 500 mostly typo-fixing edits in a month just doesn't establish the kind of track record I look for when granting advanced permissions. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:33, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
