About Me

[edit]

Hi. I'm Merrilee. I have been editing Wikipedia since 2005, but am no expert! I'm still gaining confidence but I'm inspired by the Wiki community every day. I'm involved with the Wikipedia Library Project and spend a lot of time trying to encourage librarians and other information professionals to engage with Wikipedia.

Professional: I am a librarian and GLAM enthusiast and am passionate about helping to forge connections between libraries, archives and Wikimedians (I am a fan of museums, too, but that's not where my competency is). I'm particularly interested in the special role that library authority data can play in the wider world. Professionally, my home base is the corner of special collections and digitization, which is where I've worked since the mid 1990s.

Personal: I am a Maker and have regularly attended Burning Man since 2004.

Leave a message on my talk page or find me on twitter @merrileeiam.

Conflict of Interest Statement

[edit]

I, User:Merrilee, am an employee of OCLC, a non profit dedicated to serving the global library community, and helping to provide broad access to library resources. I will not make any edits that would not be beneficial to the goals of Wikipedia.

While my editing is sort of all over the map, I do like to improve access to important, free, scholarly sources held in libraries and archives. I do, from time to time, insert links to library resources via WorldCat, a service which is run by my employer, OCLC.

I will modify my editing behavior based on problems cited by other editors or if my editing conflicts with other Wikipedia guidelines. I ask that other editors do not hesitate to contact me, via my user talk page, if I appear to be going against this declaration. Merrilee (talk) 18:14, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
