Band Articles

Are you thinking of creating an article on a band you know? First, check to see if there is already an article for the band. Next, remember that Wikipedia has certain music notability requirements that bands should meet in order to have their own article. Some of these include being featured in multiple non-trivial published works or winning a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno or Mercury Music Award. A band need not meet all of these criteria, but it should meet at least one of them.

Could you please adopt me?[edit]

I am an auto-confirmed user with over 185 edits and some experience of fighting vandalism on the Recent Changes page. I edit a wide range of articles and would be happy to learn more skills in fighting vandalism. I often warn vandals, welcome newbies, and spend a lot of the day waiting on the Recent Changes page. As a result, I am usually very active throughout the day and even night, in any time zone. Apollogetticax|talk 09:06, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apollogetticax Good day and welcome. Sure, I am happy to be your mentor. Just let me know how can I help you. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 09:10, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't want to annoy you, but, first of all, what are the best ways to actively fight vandalism? I normally do the old-school way of patrolling recent changes for hours. I know Huggle is good, but I'm not a rollbacker and can't use it.

(Also, I'll be going offline for now.) Apollogetticax|talk 09:12, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apollogetticax For most editors they use Recent Changes log and for counter vandalism editors, some of them use Huggle. I suggest you to take up WP:CVUA program first to understand counter vandalism work and guidelines to be a effective counter vandalism editor. You can choose any instructor from the list and I am one of them. To say that you need to have at least 200 main space edits to join the program. At the moment you have a total of main space edits of 81 - see HERE. When you reach the requirement above then pop back here if you still want to join the CUVA program. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 09:19, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I now have 204 mainspace edits, and I still want to join this program.
Now, without further ado...(drumroll)...Can you please adopt me? Apollogetticax|talk 08:06, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apollogetticax I have set up the program for you. Pls read the "communication section" at the bottom of the assignment. If you have any questions regarding the assignment or you have finish the assignment and would like me to review, pls ping me on the "communication section". When I said I will be your mentor on my initial message that meant I adopt you. Welcome to CVUA. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 08:29, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Apollogetticax on Zerodium (22:52, 25 June 2024)[edit]

Hello, Cassiopeia. I am doing user suggestions to help Wikipedia articles (I am currently taking a break from Recent Changes patrolling), and many suggestions (I am doing copyedits) are pages with not just spelling and grammar mistakes, but also with tags that say they are like advertisements.

In this kind of article don't know where the problem is, and how to fix it. Could you please advice on this? --Apollogetticax|talk 22:52, 25 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Mick.Caru on Bill Baker (racing driver) (01:23, 26 June 2024)[edit]

Hello, This is my first time trying to add a photo. My dad is Bill Baker and I would like to add a couple photos in the article about him. These photos are not copyrighted. How do I do this? Thanks for your time and help. --Mick.Caru (talk) 01:23, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mick.Caru May I know you hold the copyright for the images (mean you took the photos yourself)? Cassiopeia talk 04:23, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I took the photo myself back in the 1970’s Mick.Caru (talk) 05:55, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mick.Caru Image needs to be upload on Wikipedia Commons first then copy the file name and paste it on Wikipedia article. Save the image in png or jpg format. Go to Wiki Commons to upload the image - see HERE and follow the instructions. I suggest you to read Wikipedia:Uploading images first prior the upload. Once the upload is done then click "Use this file" with the "W" icon next to it, a window will pop up and copy Thumnail file name and past on the article. Stay safe and best. Question from El kukulkano (03:37, 3 July 2024)[edit]

Hello there! How can place my source better? I got the links and "" sections, but not sure how to LINK those to the hyperlinks themselves to have those placed at the Reference section. --El kukulkano (talk) 03:37, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
