Question from SarahHunnings24 on Draft:Currensea (10:18, 17 June 2024)

[edit]

Hello, if review or specific comments have been left on a draft, how can you access them? --SarahHunnings24 (talk) 10:18, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SarahHunnings24 in this case, in the pink box at the top of the draft: specifically the draft has been refused because the sourcing is not considered reliable. A quick scan of the sourcing shows multiple references which are self-published or primary (eg Companies House), none of those sources establish notability. I've not looked closely at the other sources, but many appear to be sources which look to be repeating PR, rather than providing independent, in-depth analysis. Question from Thira(79-80) (19:20, 17 June 2024)

[edit]

hello

i've drafted a new article in my sandbox but when i try to publish it i keep getting a notification saying "error..no stashed content found"

i'm not sure what that means and how to go about fixing it

any information on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated

thank you --Thira(79-80) (talk) 19:20, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Thira(79-80). I can see the draft - this kind of error could be the result of leaving the editing window/tab open for too long. Close your browser (not just the tabs) and reopen to the draft. Try saving a small, simple edit and see if the problem remains. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:09, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Funny guy 800 (20:01, 18 June 2024)

[edit]

Hello, I want to be more involved with the Wikipedia team and I would like some ways to do that with my skill level --Funny guy 800 (talk) 20:01, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Funny guy 800 - I'm not sure what you mean "be more involved" - do you mean doing things other than editing? Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 05:22, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well I slightly mean things that will extend from editing but in the other hand I’m not quite ready to commit to much time to work on big projects that take lots of time, thank you Funny guy 800 (talk) 18:23, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Funny guy 800 - it's hard to identify one area in particular, but what was helpful for me when I first started editing was connecting to editors who shared similar interests. For me that was working around issues related to trade unions, so I became active in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Organized Labour. There's pretty much a project for every broad area of work - some a lot more active than others. You can see a directory of the WikiProjects here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_Council/Directory. Go to the pages of one of the projects that interests you, there's usually open tasks and also visiting the talk page will give you a chance to see what current editors are doing. Hope that helps, regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 04:58, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from MDLVJM (08:59, 7 July 2024)

[edit]

Where can I obtain more information on the History of Karmacs village in Zala County of Hungary? What was there in the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries? --MDLVJM (talk) 08:59, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @MDLVJM - have a look at the Hungarian version of the article, there's lots more information there. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 09:55, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from MDLVJM (09:31, 10 July 2024)

[edit]

Hello Mr G Thank you for the data you sent me, but none of it is t=relevant to my question about the village of KARMACS in Hungary. --MDLVJM (talk) 09:31, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @MDLVJM. The Hungarian version mentions the effects of war and the plague as decimating the population in the 17th Century; I can't help more than that when it comes to subject research. I suggest leaving a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hungary. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 13:29, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SarahHunnings24 on Draft:Currensea (12:56, 18 July 2024)

[edit]

Hello, We have encountered difficulties in submitting our wiki draft due to a few factors. We have emulated the structure of successful wiki articles from our competitors, but our draft has not met the same approval. They have used their own sites as sources, and we have followed suit, only to be informed that our sources lack independence. In light of this, we seek your expert advice. Should we remove these sources or diversify our references? Monzo and Wise use PR/ sources; other sources are independent as they are not paid advertisements. --SarahHunnings24 (talk) 12:56, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SarahHunnings24 on Draft:Currensea (12:56, 18 July 2024) (2)

[edit]

This entry has a finance section because it is a company, displaying how the organisation gets its funding. This is clear in the other competitor wiki pages, like Monzo and Wise. However, we are unsure if this section is necessary for a company that cannot provide its full accounts due to its funding stage. Could you advise on this? --SarahHunnings24 (talk) 12:56, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SarahHunnings24 on Draft:Currensea (12:57, 18 July 2024)

[edit]

Is there any recommendations for source types or places to find them (list of) that are considered more appropriate or will get the article to be approved. --SarahHunnings24 (talk) 12:57, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from SarahHunnings24 on Draft:Currensea (14:12, 29 July 2024)

[edit]

Hello, I have recently posted three questions that I need replies to, if you could answer at your earliest convenience? Thanks --SarahHunnings24 (talk) 14:12, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SarahHunnings24 - the notability criteria for companies are set out here: WP:NCORP; I still see a lot of material which appears to be the result of press releases and self-publications. The best thing to do is identify three independent, secondary reliable sources that discuss the company with significant coverage; post them here and I'll give you my opinion whether they are enough to satisfy NCORP. Wikipedia holds for profit private companies to fairly strict standards due to the presence of promotional strategies and churnalism that surrounds much of the corporate press. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:45, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In terms of sources, check your sources against the lists here: WP:RSPSS. Multiple, significant coverage in a newspaper of record is almost always going to satisfy the criteria. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 00:54, 3 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Shabbirphysiotalk (15:51, 2 August 2024)

[edit]

Question from KitotekNVE (04:29, 12 August 2024)

[edit]

My old account where I was a certified “experienced editor” / “mentor” got deleted, is there any way I can get that status back? --KitotekNVE (talk) 04:29, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @KitotekNVE - as far as I know, old accounts cannot be deleted (see WP:UNC). Do you mean you have lost access to your old account? What was the username? Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 04:32, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello - could you see if this article meets guidelines? --WealthNavigator2024 (talk) 18:04, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @WealthNavigator2024 - there's no linked draft...? Do you have a specific text? Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 21:51, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @WealthNavigator2024 - ok, now I can see the draft exists. I will have a look. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:07, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @WealthNavigator2024 - In current form, this would not meet policy or guidelines. There are a number of problems, first, it reads like a tax advice essay for someone in the USA, rather than an encyclopedia entry readable to anyone in the world. Please have a look at the Manual of Style for writing articles. Second, the concept itself does not apprear notable from the sources provided, this looks more like original research, which is against Wikipedia policy. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:16, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from FuscusSalinator (23:53, 13 August 2024)

[edit]

Hello. I just edited a page and I cannot figure out how to add the citation. --FuscusSalinator (talk) 23:53, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @FuscusSalinator - Basically, there are two ways to add a reference, via the Visual Editor or via source (text) editing. For source editing have a look at this Help:Referencing for beginners. For Visual Editor look at this: WP:REFVISUAL. Let me know if I can help any further. Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 01:06, 14 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Hussein Mustafa Parmar on Draft:Sheikh Hussein Mustafa Parmar (21:57, 16 August 2024)

[edit]

How can I put my photo in the page I want to create of myself --Hussein Mustafa Parmar (talk) 21:57, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Hussein Mustafa Parmar - editors are strongly discouraged from editing about themselves. I see your draft has been deleted as it contravened policy. I would encourage you to edit in areas that interest you and where you do not have a conflict of interest. On your talk page is a message with lots of links on how best to contribute. [edit]

Hello, is Grammarly useful for Wikipedia? --R1R1Liii (talk) 03:25, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @R1R1Liii - I've never used Grammarly and some editors recommend against it: Wikipedia:Don't use Grammarly. (That is just an essay, so it is not policy or guideline, just an opinion). Regards, Goldsztajn (talk) 05:03, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
