Inconsistent policies on Kosovo place names

[edit]

I have come to the conclusion that you are biased as far as Kosovo place names are concerned. You are supporting to keep the name Kosovska Mitrovica when it is clear that the whole English world uses Mitrovica, including BBC, AP, AFP and other news outlets. I can not call it anything else than dubble standards applied by you and this ruins your whole integrity as supposed "neutral" editor.--NOAH (talk) 11:50, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

NOAH, this must be a misunderstanding. Could you please indicate where do I support to keep that article under the title "Kosovska Mitrovica" ? You can read my recent comments on the issue, on the 20th, 27th & again 27th of May 2009. - Best, Ev (talk) 15:28, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you changed your mind and I may have accused you wrongly og supporting pro-Serb names. This should not have happened and I apologize. --NOAH (talk) 20:32, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
No problem, apology accepted. Just one detail: when did I change my mind ? As far as I can remember, I never supported the use of "Kosovska Mitrovica" instead of "Mitrovica, Kosovo". In fact, I don't see any significant difference between them, and would be more or less equally satisfied using one or the other.
Morover, for the purposes of the English-language Wikipedia, using Kosovska Mitrovica is no more "pro-Serb" than using Mitrovica, Kosovo is "pro-Albanian", as both forms are widely used in English-language publications. Only Albanians & Serbs see the names in that antagonistic light. For the dispassionate anglophone, these names have no such inherent bias.
Sometimes I wish both Albanians and Serbs would stay away from all these naming discussions, and leave the issue in the hands of their non-emotionally-involved colleagues. - Best, Ev (talk) 20:47, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstars

[edit]

Just to let you know, it's considered inappropriate to add barnstars to your own userpage. They're intended to be given to other wikipedians, based on their assessment of your edits. And is there a reason you gave Interestedinfairness an NPOV star for Kosovo? You're aware he's been blocked twice, topic-blocked from all kosovo-related articles for POV-pushing, right? --Kingoomieiii ♣ Talk 20:04, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you can read and if you had done it when you visitd my user page you would have seen that I have wroten "Two of the barnstars you can see below are made by me and are used to award different editors who contributed to NPOV on Kosovo related articles. If you think I have given myself barnstars, then you are wrong, because I haven't.". I expect an apology from you for accusing me of giving myself barnstars when I have made it clear that I only store the them in my user page so they are easy avilable when I need them.--NOAH (talk) 20:30, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I did, in fact, miss your disclaimer. I can read, thanks. Use a subpage of your user page to store such things. And for the absolute audacity of DEMANDING an apology from me for a simple error, you will receive none. --Kingoomieiii ♣ Talk 20:40, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, now that I think about it, the Subpage method would absolutely be a better way to handle that. Simply create a subpage for each barnstar, and then you could use {{subst:User talk:NOAH/whatever}} to add it to people's pages, without having to copy and paste. --Kingoomieiii ♣ Talk 23:45, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
At the outset, the Subpage method DOES sound complicated (I'll admit I didn't understand it at first). But it's really very simple. In fact, I've just created a subpage for you, by creating a link to the subpage (that doesn't yet exist), clicking the redlink, and adding something to it. Here it is:
User talk:NOAH/Kosovo1
You can now add the barnstar on that page to another page by utilizing template transclusion- simply use the code {{User Talk:NOAH/Kosovo1}}, and when you save the page, it will look up your subpage, and copy its contents (the barnstar) to the page you edited, like this-
This barnstar is awarded to you by NOAH for your efforts to maintain NPOV on Kosovo-related articles.

I've now created both pages. They can be reached at User talk:NOAH/Kosovo1 and User talk:NOAH/Kosovo2. Make sure you only give them to people that deserve it ;D --Kingoomieiii ♣ Talk 17:56, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Kthjellu requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Tadija (talk) 19:54, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Religion statistics of Albania

[edit]

I reverted your edit [1], as I don't believe that the research is biased. In 2010 Albania will do the religious census as noted by the Albanian Government, so all these discussions will be vain, but I would like to take this occasion to thank you for the Albanian related edits and for what you have done for them. However I don't agree with not entering that source on top and felt like leaving you a message here. Best! sulmues--Sulmues 18:42, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Given your interest in Albanian related topics, I entered your nick here. Hope it's ok with you. Pershendetje! --sulmues (talk) 08:15, 22 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

please help add albanian names to wikipedia

[edit]

We have started a project to add in all the albanian names to the places where albanians live, that would at least be a non disruptive effort to get people involved in the absolute basic wikipedia editing. I am coordinating the work first by listing the idea on the wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Kosovo/Attention_needed

The problem is that this wikihound, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Tadija is consistently deleting my list of issues.

Here is the text that he removed :

The NPOV means that we should represent all names of all the people living there, so we should have the names in all the native languages of the residents.

 1. District_of_Gnjilane]
 2. Kosovo District
 3. Peć District (Serbia)
 4. Prizren District (Serbia)
 5. Kosovska Mitrovica District (Serbia)
 6. Kosovo-Pomoravlje District
  * Template_talk:Coord_missing#coord_missing.7CKosovo - template :coord missing|Kosovo can we use that? James Michael DuPont 20:30, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
  * Template:Coord template :coord|42.2068|N|20.7374|E|region:Kosovo can we use that?
  * Pomoravlje (region) - covers most of Kosovo, but does not mention it. Needs to be fixed.
  * The cities in kosovo need to have the second level admin information (Municipalities) Municipalities_of_Kosovo we need to revisit them all. The should all be marked with a template.

Please all, join up the en.wikipedia and help us out with adding the albanian names to wikipedia, here is our project page on facebook : http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=100577056656551&ref=ts

Hi NOAH, how is it going?

It seems that you forgot to put a closing "</span>" tag at the end of your signature (and it breaks others' comments on talkpages like in Talk:Kosovo#ICJ_verdict). Cheers. — Kedadi 16:24, 22 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
