The result of the move request was: moved to History of Russian postage rates. Seems to be the most appropriate/least controversial title. (closed by non-admin page mover) MaterialWorks (contribs) 20:59, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Soviet and post-Soviet postage ratesPostage rates in post-imperial Russia – Title doesn’t define the subject or meet other criteria, per WP:TITLE.  —Michael Z. 17:05, 5 April 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 18:17, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

this doesn't really make sense as a stand alone article, all of the Postage rate articles should probably be folded into their respective Postal history articles—blindlynx 17:57, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’d welcome a proposal. Or it should be split into articles for the Soviet Union and Russia, as the latter is only one of a dozen successors of the former.  —Michael Z. 18:44, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
that's a better option, lumping soviet and russian is problematic—blindlynx 19:56, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing to split here. There is only one image and one column in a table about RF. And the article focuses on Russia specifically with RSFSR. Mellk (talk) 20:04, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
you alright merging this into Postage Postage stamps and postal history of Russia? —blindlynx 22:01, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Compare Postage stamps and postal history of the United States and History of United States postage rates. Maybe this page can be moved and expanded. Mellk (talk) 23:35, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For example this is used as a source which also include earlier rates. Mellk (talk) 23:36, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good point—blindlynx 18:56, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’m fine with that title too.  —Michael Z. 18:42, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting proposal

[edit]

I propose that the section about postal rates in the Soviet Union be split into a separate page called History of Soviet postal rates. The subject equally relates to the four Soviet founding republics and twelve Soviet successor states and so shouldn’t be treated as if it belongs to one of them. This section is large and well-sourced enough to make its own page. —Michael Z. 22:25, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
