The result of the discussion was: do not merge. MER-C 10:50, 21 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Why are there two categories for the same country? The main article is at Denmark which notes that the official name is the Kingdom of Denmark. However, on Wikipedia the common name is used. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:29, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: C2C. Similar to other descriptions of Queens in the tree, such as Category:Sportspeople from Queens, New York and Category:People from Queens, New York. It is also more administratively correct than Queens, New York City. StonyBrook (talk) 20:36, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: As per the previous nomination, this category makes little sense historically. It would only prove useful if non-European matters can be categorized under European eras for the sake of cross-cultural comparison. Nevertheless, I'd like to get a current consensus on the matter. --Invokingvajras (talk) 19:50, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, setting up a medieval tree would only be meaningful if there would be a number of topic articles about Jains in the Middle Ages. Since Indian historiography does not clearly distinguish a medieval period comparable to Europe, those articles are probably not going to be written. (Note that the subcategories are also in a by-century tree so nothing is lost with plain deletion.) Marcocapelle (talk) 01:48, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Avoid repetition of "champion". All the member templates' title lines use "winners" rather than "champions". – Fayenatic London 16:45, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: All six of these categories combined include just nine articles total. It's not necessary or useful to subcategorize city councillors this narrowly — with one or two exceptions, we don't even subcategorize national legislators in most countries for each individual session they served in, let alone city councillors. We simply don't need seven separate categories to contain six people and three lists: just the one parent category is entirely sufficient here, and navigation is not aided by reassigning just nine articles into six partially overlapping WP:SMALLCATs. Nominator's rationale: All the subcategories are along the lines of Fooish music. But the lead article in each case is Music of Foo. Should we change them all? Rathfelder (talk) 13:15, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more categories. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the category's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was: rename. MER-C 10:07, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: The current title is repetitive. The article British Speedway Championship refers to "winners" and says the winner "becomes the British Speedway Champion." We could therefore use Category:British Speedway Champions, but this could be ambiguous as people might read it as British winners of any speedway championship. The naming format "XYZ Championship winners" keeps the full name of the championship, with its capital letters, and is used by various others within e.g. Category:Sports world champions. – Fayenatic London 12:49, 10 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
