If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

- To list a technical request: Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests
[edit]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit]- Trichosanthes dioica → Potol (currently a redirect back to Trichosanthes dioica) (move · discuss) – This plant is culinarily significant and is known by the name "Potol" in majority of the English language sources. Requesting it's move as per WP:FLORATITLES and WP:UCRN. SriHarsha Bhogi (talk) 13:25, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- DOA (mixtape) → DOA (album) (move · discuss) – Majority of sources call this an album rather than a mixtape, and the disambiguation should reflect that. Current target's album does not appear to be notable, and can/should be replaced with a hatnote. Current title should be tagged as {{r from incorrect disambiguation}}. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 15:39, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
- Note that D.o.A: The Third and Final Report of Throbbing Gristle may be seen as ambiguous. 162 etc. (talk) 02:12, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- @162 etc. I think the punctuation and capitalization is enough for WP:SMALLDIFFS and a hatnote should suffice. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 00:44, 14 August 2024 (UTC)- Nope, it needs full disambiguation from that. — Amakuru (talk) 07:36, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

- Noble women → Noblewomen (currently a redirect back to Noble women) (move · discuss) – Per consensus at Special:Permalink/1240031047#Requested move 7 August 2024. Waqar💬 07:23, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Iwaqarhashmi: there was a late !vote in the discussion pointing out that it should be Noblewoman per WP:SINGULAR, not Noblewomen. Was there a reason you ignored this comment in your close? Cheers — Amakuru (talk) 07:53, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hey, the comment did not explicitly support or oppose the originally proposed name. Having said that, it was considered a neutral observation rather than a formal stance. Waqar💬 08:11, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- I don't follow at all. The comment is clearly simply stating that while the initiial proposal is OK and no doubt the commenter supports it in principle, the guidelines tell us that we should phrase it as Noblewoman. This seems uncontroversial so I'm surprised you're still saying we should move to Noblewomen? — Amakuru (talk) 08:15, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- You're absolutely right. It's up to you. You have more experience with this than me, so you should make the final decision. Waqar💬 08:22, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- FWIW, as one of the participants in the RM: I !voted prior to the late mention of WP:SINGULAR but fully support the uncontroversial target of Noblewoman. Rosbif73 (talk) 08:34, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks Rosbif and Waqar. @Mclay1 and Necrothesp: as other participants in the RM would you also be happy with the move to the singular form? — Amakuru (talk) 09:02, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, that makes sense. Noblewoman seems like the correct title. Mclay1 (talk) 10:08, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

[edit]- Somebody else's problem → Someone else's problem (currently a redirect back to Somebody else's problem) (move · discuss) – more common name + concise Jruderman (talk) 14:04, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Jruderman What evidence do you have that it is more common? Being 1 letter shorter is not very much. Could this be an WP:ENGVAR situation? Bensci54 (talk) 16:21, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with @Bensci54. I don't see a strong reason to change the name. The difference is minor, and I'm not convinced it's more commonly used. Waqar💬 16:47, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- The stable version of the article also references a Douglas Adams passage which specifically uses "somebody else's problem". 162 etc. (talk) 18:49, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

- Fwiw I'm also trying to move the page from Wikipedia to Wiktionary at the same time. This is causing a bit of a mess so I'll slow down on the move-to-Wiktionary part. Sorry for the confusion. Jruderman (talk) 22:20, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- Draft:Jack Home → Jack Home (currently a redirect instead to List of Worcestershire County Cricket Club players) (move · discuss) – redirect blocking the move Hildreth gazzard (talk) 20:14, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Hildreth gazzard I'm not Home meets WP:NCRICKET, as he hasn't played at an international level, and unlike Harry Darley, the coverage of him is mostly WP:ROUTINE and passing mentions. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 00:30, 14 August 2024 (UTC)- I do not fully understand what you mean - but have changed a couple of references for ones that have his name in the title Hildreth gazzard (talk) 05:43, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

- Motives for the September 11 attacks → Rationale for the September 11 attacks (move · discuss) – WP:TITLECON; consistency with other articles such as Rationale for the Iraq War, Rationale for the Gulf War etc. There's no other Wiki article titles "Motives for the.....". 182.191.145.138 (talk • contribs) 01:42, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- I can't imagine this is uncontroversial... "rationale" gives the impression that whatever reasons the attackers had were somehow legitimate in carrying out the attack. I'd imagine the present title is fine. Note we also have Causes of the vote in favour of Brexit and Causes of the 1948 Palestinian expulsion and flight as other ways of wording this. — Amakuru (talk) 07:35, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

- The nomination line here literally tells us that Goyo is currently a redirect to Goyo: The Boy General, meaning the 2024 one clearly isn't the only film of that name. Not uncontroversial. — Amakuru (talk) 07:37, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
