- Do Sheep Shrink in the Rain? → 118 118 (UK) (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
Delete. Ha ha ha, I get it. But not mentioned in the target article, so no. UnitedStatesian (talk) 22:09, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Note This is a {{R from merge}}. Thryduulf (talk) 23:29, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Delete. As far as I can tell, nothing was actually merged; here we have a statement from MickMackNee that it was merged, but this revision of the target (first edit by MickMackNee after the first link I gave) says nothing about sheep. Obviously not a plausible search term. UnitedStatesian, since you got it, can you explain the connection? I don't get it at all :-) Nyttend (talk) 23:53, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Retarget to Texperts#Publications where the book with this name is mentioned. Thryduulf (talk) 00:56, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

Zorua and Zoroark
[edit]
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was no consensus. This obviously does not preclude a merge, which can be discussed on the article talk page. Thryduulf (talk) 20:49, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- Zorua and Zoroark → List of generation V Pokémon#Zorua and Zoroark (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
There is a draft in AFC for Draft:Zorua and Zoroark, but that title in article space is occupied by a redirect to List of generation V Pokémon. There was previously an article on Zorua and Zoroark, which was then stubbed down to a redirect. If there was discussion prior to the stubbing/redirection, it was done other than on the talk page. The draft has as much information as some other Pokemon species that have stand-alone articles. The options for this redirect are: (1) keep redirect as is, and decline draft; (2) delete redirect, and promote draft to mainspace; (3) merge, by copying draft into mainspace in place of redirect; (4) other.
Recommend (3), merge, by copying draft text into mainspace with histmerge. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:59, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- (1) keep redirect, decline draft. Its Reception section's listicles are trivia that should be reduced to a single sentence. If there is no out-of-universe coverage, the common practice is to build the article summary style with the parent section. So by that accord, I recommend merging the draft's contents into the redirect's current section target. (not watching, please

) czar 03:18, 27 January 2019 (UTC)- Comment as author I'm not going to vote but I imagine fitting the contents into a single table cell would be tricky. Juxlos (talk) 09:00, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
- I don't quite understand why the list was converted to a table format but nevertheless should be reasonable to merge the most important non-trivia. czar 23:33, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

- Kyoko Sakura → List of Puella Magi Madoka Magica characters (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
A stand-alone article draft has been developed. The question is whether the article should be accepted in place of an entry in a list of the characters. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:51, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose - I have to reluctantly oppose this as the size does not warrant out a split. I compared this to an article which I was able to bump up to GA status with a length of 18k bytes, but this is a different case as things like the plot are overly detailed. I think it would show more for notability if Kyoko had some kind of a cultural impact like Homura Akemi. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 17:50, 29 January 2019 (UTC)

- Comment - This redirect does not appear to be up for deletion as the article is not ready for the main-space yet. Angus has linked possibilities in regards to the draft so we just need to see if things can be improved. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 14:51, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Question for User:Knowledgekid87 - I am not sure what you mean by saying that the "redirect does not appear to be up for deletion as the article is not ready for the main-space yet". A draft has been submitted to AFC for review and is waiting for this RFD. Do you mean that you do not think that the draft is ready for acceptance? It has been submitted for acceptance, and the purpose of this RFD is to decide whether it should be accepted. Robert McClenon (talk) 17:03, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Well I mean this discussion has been open for almost a month now, and the creator has not responded other than to say "Please decline it". I do not feel the draft is ready for acceptance due to concerns raised. For reference I have also penned WP:A&M/CHARACTER which is a composite of a good character article. Without enough outside notability, the information presented is mostly in-universe fandom. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 17:21, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- I'm gonna go ahead and decline the request per submitter. Knowledgekid87, if you have concerns about notability you can list it on the talk page of that draft or the AFC reviewers' section. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:31, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Keep redirect and withdraw RFD, as draft has been declined. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:18, 25 February 2019 (UTC)

Surprising redirect from antonym. Term not discussed in target article and can also refer to culture of death (which is a very similar concept but originating from different circles). Propose deletion as we don't have a broad-concept article for “culture of death” which could be the only sensible place to retarget this to. Nowak Kowalski (talk) 11:47, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment this could point to Death and culture or Death as it seems to be about how people perceive death, [10] but it's a relatively new term. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:51, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Retarget to Death and culture. That seems to make the most sense to me. Here's a 2013 non-RS article on the matter (probably the same logic behind current target). ―Matthew J. Long -Talk-☖ 01:28, 17 February 2019 (UTC)

- Keep - Application programming denotes a specific kind of programming which is dealt with in the target article, though the term is not mentioned by name. The chess illustration at the top of Computer programming is a good example of application programming. Traditionally it means all programming for a direct real-world purpose, as opposed to system programming which provides platforms and tools for application programmers. It includes but is not limited to mobile app development, which is a small subset of application programming. Certes (talk) 15:45, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
- Application development might be a better target if we had an article at that title, but I don't think either link on that dab addresses the incoming links as well as Computer programming. Certes (talk) 22:08, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

- Music of Eastern Europe → Category:Eastern European music (talk · links · history · stats) [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]
The cross-namespace target does not provide information about eastern European music (perhaps because it's not a recognisable genre), but is a category containing articles about music of eastern European nations. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 22:03, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- N.b., European music redirects to Culture of Europe#Music, which is mostly an awful list of European musical acts sorted by country. Eastern Europe doesn't have a distinct culture or music section, though it reminds us that "Eastern Europe" is broad enough an idea that we might well have difficulty describing something like "Eastern European music" except as a container for the music of its individual countries. --BDD (talk) 22:09, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

- There is a spelling difference, however minor ("Whatshername" on the PPM album). If there are no other uses, hatnotes might be better (cf. WP:TWODABS). --BDD (talk) 18:44, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
- Comment I expected this to target Placeholder name, but the closest that article gets is "what's-his-name" in an example. Thryduulf (talk) 16:03, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

- Keep and hatnote per WP:TWODABS I don't see other notable tracks besides these. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:01, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- I'm okay with disambiguation below. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:40, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Disambiguate between the current topic, Peter Paul and Mary, and placeholder name. Unless you're a computer running an exact character match, you'll see that "Whatsername" and "What's-his-name" are basically the same thing. Nyttend (talk) 20:02, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Created dab. Please review. Also added Whatsername, the character from the American Idiot musical. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 03:57, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- Disambiguate per Nyttend and as drafted by AngusWOOF. bd2412 T 13:33, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Implausible and unlikely to be searched and used for "Decillion" is USA. It can be written simply as 10^33 B dash (talk) 02:47, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- Strong Keep. The nominator's lack of WP:BEFORE is telling here as this got over 1100 hits last year and got over 100 in the past 30 days so it's very clearly both plausible and likely to be searched. Just because a search term can be written in a different way does not mean that is the only way that people will use to search for it. Thryduulf (talk) 10:45, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- I really think we need to look at more than just raw numbers here. I'd bet anything that some of those hits were someone starting to type something in the search box, seeing this enormous number, and then wondering what was up with it. Now, was that 30 last year? 1000? I don't know, but I think we need to acknowledge what a curiosity this is in that context. --BDD (talk) 17:33, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- Whether 1 or 1000 people viewed this link out of curiosity is not relevant as the redirect did it's job in helping people find content on Wikipedia. If they weren't looking for anything in particular then it was not harmful and exposed an article they wouldn't otherwise have read - this is a Good Thing. Delete, misleading. The target page doesn't even mention 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. And no, having a redirect bring people to some page that they weren't looking for is not a Good Thing. We're an encyclopedia, not a time sink. Huon (talk) 22:17, 7 February 2019 (UTC)- If people are looking for a specific page this does not get in the way of that. If people are just looking for something to read but not a specific article (and yes, people do do that intentionally) then this is what they are looking for. Either way the redirect is not harmful. As for the target being misleading - pull the other one. Thryduulf (talk) 00:19, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
- Delete since the article is about the names of large numbers and not the numbers themselves. -- Tavix (talk) 15:34, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Huon and Tavix: Or this can retarget to Orders_of_magnitude_(numbers)#1033 (Should be 1033 but the URL can't display)? --B dash (talk) 15:29, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Orders of magnitude (numbers)#1033 at least provides some meaningful information. Huon (talk) 19:56, 10 February 2019 (UTC)

- Retarget to Orders_of_magnitude_(numbers)#1033 as at target. It's possible a person searching for this number may not know how to writ the shortened version. Rubbish computer (Talk: Contribs) 18:17, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Don't delete; I'm leaning toward supporting the retargeting idea, since it sounds reasonable to go somewhere that mentions this number, but keeping with the current target would be better than deleting. Nyttend (talk) 20:00, 16 February 2019 (UTC)
- Delete with no target - This is not a plausible redirect anymore than 1000000000000000000000000000000000000 is. The average reader would have to know a bit about math to be searching numbers this high, either that or a bored kid. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 17:35, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Those are not the only possibilities, but even if the people looking this up are knowledgeable about maths and/or bored kids that is not a reason to delete a redirect. We have information about this number in two places - names of large numbers and orders of magnitude, either of which are very significantly more useful than search results, an invitation to search and/or an invitation to start an article.
