Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Heavy unsourced additions by IPs. Semi for one week recommended. Thewikizoomer (talk) 03:29, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Should be made ECP; User:Ilaksh22 (autoconfirmed editor) is now edit-warring about adding BO figures with an unreliable source. Reverted by both me and another editor (Charliehdb); but, still adding it back. Vestrian24Bio (TALK) 13:21, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Wikipedialuva (talk) 10:27, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Protection required to prevent repeated addition of a non RS, non BLP compliant attack page. Axad12 (talk) 14:46, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Consistent vandalism from IPs and new users due to the online "Ironland" movement. RyanAl6 (talk) 19:34, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary create protection: Repeatedly recreated. Jdcomix (talk) 19:38, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: ip user persistently attempting to make a change without discussing. i believe protection might lead them to the talk page. cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 19:57, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

for the record, i don't know of any interval. the edits seem to be sporadic (could be a day, could be a month), so i won't make any suggestions for time cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 20:02, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary pending changes: Persistent vandalism. Some1 (talk) 22:59, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Blocked IP hopper can't stop themselves. Nswix (talk) 02:01, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi protection requested considering the edit history scenario. Thewikizoomer (talk) 03:32, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – After a COI editor wasn't permitted to add promotion to this article, they've written a blog post that is sending their users to Wikipedia. Please semiprotect to give this some time to blow over. MrOllie (talk) 03:45, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The page has more than 1000 views per day on average. Some IP and non-confirmed users keep changing the images without valid reason. It needs high level of protection so that only autoconfirmed users can edit the page (similar to Head of state page which have pending changes protection) JoshuaJ28 (talk) 04:45, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Disruptive editing / Unsourced content in the last few days. Kind Tennis Fan (talk) 05:24, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite semi-protection: High level of vandalism by IP addresses involving the name Wheatley2 (talk) 06:36, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP adding personal information and posting objectionable content. Thewikizoomer (talk) 06:59, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Look - https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Komal_Jha&oldid=1240755331 and https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Komal_Jha&oldid=1240755276 Thewikizoomer (talk) 07:08, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent removal of logo images for multiple Paramount TV channels in Australia by IP users, including on the articles for 10 Bold Drama, 10 Peach Comedy and Nickelodeon. Yours sincerely, Bas (or TechGeek105) (talk to me) 07:35, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent disruptive editing, both with IPs and socks, nearly 2 dozen edits/reverts over 6 days. Alivardi (talk) 09:58, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: IP Address and @Xizx12 vandalized the disambiguation page, and other edits are irrelevant in disambiguation page. Royiswariii (talk) 10:25, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Long term vandal who keeps changing IPs and vandalising the page every few days for months now. Many of their previous IPs have been blocked but they keep changing IPs. Bennv123 (talk) 11:04, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent vandalism by Shurbanm (talk · contribs). I applied for intervention against vandalism, nothing. Beshogur (talk) 12:03, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Requesting page protection for all calendar years (except the 20th century) for persistent disruptive edits by multiple IPs that begin with "User:2600". Example, adding entries incorrectly here for the year 1869 and for 1455. Unsourced entries for 1848 despite warnings. These are just examples, the IPs have edited more pages based on their edit histories.Dora the Axe-plorer (explore) 12:30, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry. Bestagon15:39, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Already protected by administrator Robertsky. Favonian (talk) 15:47, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Request indefinite autoconfirmed or semi-protection. Dlaska, directly affiliated with LabPlot, wrote up a series of comically terrible promotional edits which obviously violated numerous guidelines and policies. When MrOllie undid these, the editor in question and/or their affiliates began using IPs to edit war their way into forcing through the (again completely unacceptable) changes, cast aspersions on MrOllie as "biased" and a "non-contributor" who should be "blocked", and sealion about the merits of their edits. When this strategy didn't work, one of the contributors to LabPlot wrote on the official blog this absolutely unhinged screed demonstrating no idea of or care for how Wikipedia is supposed to work, actively encouraging their followers to brigade, and even linking to a tweet which compared MrOllie by name to the Gestapo. Since then, more IP edits have been made trying to push these asinine changes. It's clear that there's a concerted, bad-faith effort by the LabPlot team to use sock- and meatpuppets to push through ridiculous, promotional changes to the detriment of the project and that they have every intention of pushing them through whenever they can in the hopes that nobody is looking. TheTechnician27 (Talk page) 16:04, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – There is an IP user (with dynamic IP) keeps adding unsourced content (which probably breaks other wikipedia guidelines too) and he is not interested in discussing, so I thought making the page semi protected will help. Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

In the note "c" which is added on the platform section on iOS, Android and macOS add this text: "On 16th August 2024 the Epic Games Store for iOS released in the European Union, making it possible to reinstall the game on iOS and iPadOS devices. Not doneReliable sources are a requirement for adding the information. Noobody20061591, you are only three edits away from auto-confirmed status. Once you have attained that, you can make an edit request on the article talk page. Still needs sources, though. Favonian (talk) 11:22, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
