Batman, el personaje principal de los juegos.

Los videojuegos de Batman son una franquicia de juegos electrónicos, los cuales iniciaron en 1986 con Batman. El ya mencionado personaje (conocido inicialmente como The Bat-Man)[1]​ fue creado por los dibujantes Bob Kane y Bill Finger (aunque sólo se reconoce la autoría al primero) y propiedad de DC Comics. Su primera aparición fue en la historia titulada El caso del sindicato químico de la revista Detective Comics n.º 27, lanzada por la editorial National Publications en mayo de 1939. Desde entonces, su identidad secreta ha sido siempre Bruce Wayne (renombrado como Bruno Díaz en algunos países de habla hispana[2]​[3]​[4]​) un empresario multimillonario y filántropo.

El personaje ha logrado ser tan exitoso que ha tenido apariciones en muchos videojuegos, el primero de ellos fue lanzado en el año 1986, siendo desarrollado por Ocean Software.[5]​ Sin embargo hay juegos donde Batman sólo desarrolla un papel menor — como es el caso de Gotham City Impostors —. También ha aparecido en crossovers — juegos donde aparece más de un personaje — cómo Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe e Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Batman, Batman: The Caped Crusader y Batman: La película fueron producidas por Sunsoft y Ocean Software,[5]​ antes de que la licencia pasara a manos de Konami y Sega, sin embargo poco después la Warner decidió que otras empresas ya no seguirían desarrollando sus juegos siendo desarrollados por Warner Bros. Interactive desde entonces, aunque hay casos especiales cómo el de Batman Begins que fue desarrollado por Electronic Arts.[6]​
