2010年海地地震喺UTC 2010年1月12號21時53分9秒（海地當地時間12號下晝16時53分9秒）左右發生，地震規模係黎克特制7.0[3] 。震央位於海地首都太子港以西大約 16 公里處，震源距離地面10.0公里（6.2 英里）左右。美國地質調查局已錄得一系列餘震，其中 5.0 以上有十次[4]，較大餘震包括5.9餘震一次同5.5餘震一次。2010年1月20號，海地首都太子港發生黎克特制6.1級地震係最大餘震。
位於海地首都太子港嘅大多數建築都喺地震中損毀，其中包括海地總統府、國會大廈、太子港大教堂、醫院同埋監獄[5][6]。
