The saying ‘success comes to those who wait’ is relevant for many celebrities in Hollywood who have ridden the wave of failure to achieve stardom. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is an actor whose career followed a similar path. While the star was the toast of the town on television in the 2000s with shows like The Walking Dead and Supernatural, and movies like Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, to his latest stint in The Boys, his journey to the big leagues wasn’t easy.

Despite entering the industry in the 90s, Morgan spent many years auditioning for that one big break which eluded him constantly. Even when his manager who no longer believed in his talents dumped him, the charismatic star showed that perseverance always pays rich dividends by proving her totally wrong.

The Star Trek franchise has had a long history since its original series back in the 60s. Hit follow-up shows like The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine followed in the 80s and 90s. The franchise also started dabbling in the theatrical space with films that followed the narratives of the original series and The Next Generation.

After Jack Quaid, Antony Starr also stood by showrunner Eric Kripke’s decision to end The Boys after five seasons. Starr shared that while hanging the superhero suit would be sad for him, he doesn’t want the series to overstay its welcome. This week's penultimate season 4 episode of The Boys concluded with another big reveal, although - much like last week's Joe Kessler twist - you might well have figured it out if you'd been paying close attention.
At one point during "The Insider," Butcher, Annie and Hughie encounter a Supe shapeshifter, which, of course, means that one of our heroes is going to be replaced by an evil doppelgänger at some point.
As the gang wind down at a bar after their scrap with The Deep and Black Noir, a "fan" approaches Annie and asks for a selfie. Later, Annie surprised Hughie by instigating sex while wearing her old Starlight costume, and we get confirmation that this is actually the Shifter when she steals the laptop containing all of the dirt on Victoria Neuman on it from Hughie's safe.
The episode ends with the real Annie chained up in an unknown location,...

If you've been avoiding the recent glut of Superman set photos and the spoilers they appear to have revealed, you might be a little confused by that headline!
Spoilers ahead.
We recently got confirmation that the Man of Steel (David Corenswet) will be facing off against an equally powerful foe in James Gunn's Dcu reboot. We're still not sure what the character is going to be called (Ultraman is rumored), but there's no denying that he does look quite a bit like Black Noir from The Boys!
The villain is likely being kept under a mask to hide that fact that he is a Superman clone of some sort, but actor Nathan Mitchell - who plays the new Black Noir in season 4 of the Prime Video series (he also played the previous one, but was never seen without his mask) - seems to think that the character might actually...

The characters of Antony Starr and Karl Urban in Amazon Prime’s The Boys obviously take center stage in the series. However, even as the two actors have been involved in a back-and-forth that has now spanned almost 4 seasons, this is not the first time that the two came together on-screen.

Some of the greatest works of fiction across books, TV, and movies hold a lot of subtext very relevant to the actual world. That is also true for Star Trek: The Next Generation, which gave fans plenty of characters that have since become iconic. While the series, which spanned for 7 seasons from 1987 to 1994 is mostly hailed positively, one particular episode invoked a ban in Northern Ireland due to one particular dialogue.

This post contains spoilers for "The Boys."
We don't talk enough about Kimiko Miyashiro (Karen Fukuhara) in "The Boys." With season 4 speeding through events that can only be described as outrageously bleak, much has happened since the titular group first started feeling the cracks forming within their ranks. Every member of The Boys carries an enormous weight, and the latest season does not hold back on the onslaught of trauma, perhaps to the point of sacrificing depth in favor of lurid shock value. Amidst the chaos, it is easy to overlook Kimiko, whom the latest season perceives mostly through her dynamic with Frenchie (Tomer Capone) or her viability as a weapon against other Vought-representing Supes. However, a heart-to-heart in episode 7 reveals the depths of her pain and provides us with a seminal piece of the puzzle about her past.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from Episode 7 of “The Boys” Season 4, currently streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
It’s Christmas for “The Boys” — sort of.
The latest episode begins with Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) filming a puppet-themed Christmas special for Vought, complete with a puppet version of A-Train and a hilarious pro-America, anti-woke agenda. However, Ryan pulls the plug on the promo over its controversial lyrics, which were personally approved by his dad Homelander (Antony Starr).
Things aren’t going well for the elder, unraveling supe. Homelander is furious that Vought hasn’t caught the company leaker yet, after Homelander incorrectly suspected and then murdered newscaster Cameron Coleman (Matthew Edison) — who is reported publicly to have died from a brain aneurysm after a flu vaccination. Firecracker (Valorie Curry) then points Homelander toward Webweaver (Dan Nousseau), who comes clean as an informant for Butcher (Karl Urban). Homelander rewards the Spider-Man...

Could The Boys be getting their own Avengers-style blockbuster moment?
After showrunner Eric Kripke teased his plans for the upcoming fifth and final season, Mother’s Milk actor Laz Alonso revealed he’s been “unsuccessfully pitching” a feature film to wrap up the Prime Video series.
“Like, make the last episode of season 5 a cliffhanger and announce the film that we’ve been filming since the beginning of the series, pretty much,” Alonso said during a live taping of the Happy Sad Confused podcast with his co-stars. “But [Kripke] always somehow gets out of that one.”
Would that mean a full-length version of the Dawn of the Seven movie-within-a-movie that was previously teased on the show? Since Kripke has already revealed he has “an ending in mind” for The Boys, it’s unlikely.
Last month, Kripke confirmed that “season 5 will be the final season,” adding: “Always my plan, I just had to...

Prime Video has shared a teaser for this week's penultimate season 4 episode of The Boys, and it looks like we're finally going to see Billy Butcher's crew face-off against The Seven.
Though Homelander doesn't appear to be involved (it wouldn't be much of a fight if he was), we do see Butcher, Starlight and Mm throwing down against Black Noir and The Deep. A-Train is also present, but will he join his fellow Supes in order to keep the fact that he's been feeding The Boys information secret, or is it finally time for the reformed speedster to step up and be a real hero?
If not, we don't like Billy and the gang's odds. The Deep may be a moron, but he is pretty powerful. Likewise Noir, even if he does lack his predecessor's pronounced sadistic streak. Kimiko would level the playing field significantly, but she may have a...

Many fans would probably have been asking if Antony Starr’s Homelander is assumed to represent or mirror former US President Donald Trump and the actor has a witty response to it. The show is a satire and social commentary, after all, so it’s not surprising that politics may be brought up from time to time.

What fans loved about the series is its dark theme and serious tone, but mostly, its allegory to many issues in society such as authoritarianism, political fanaticism, and social injustice.

The Boys’ slower fourth season might have seen a bit of criticism from fans. However, it continues to throw in new surprises and plot points that are bound to play a major role in how things conclude with respect to the series. That, obviously includes Billy Butcher’s extraordinary demise into madness, as we head towards the end of Season 4.

Joe Kessler, who Butcher had apparently been in partnership with for much of the season, was revealed to be a mere apparition created by his mind, akin to that of Becca, who he has been seeing for quite some time now. While there are many implications of this development, it also brings to us a brand new theory that revolves around the possibly-sentient tumor that he has been struggling with.

Eric Kripke, showrunner of the hit series “The Boys,” has revealed a surprising twist concerning Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character, Joe Kessler, in the show’s fourth season. The revelation, which came in episode 6 titled “Dirty Business,” has redefined the relationship between Kessler and Billy Butcher, played by Karl Urban.
Contrary to earlier assertions, it was disclosed that Butcher did not rescue Kessler during their mission in Afghanistan, but instead left him to die. However, the most shocking aspect of this twist is that Kessler is not actually alive.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kripke explained that Kessler exists only as a hallucination, a manifestation of Butcher’s darkest instincts brought on by a V-induced brain tumor. “I don’t think he’s like Venom,” Kripke stated. “I think he represents all that’s dark and malignant inside of Butcher.”

We know that The Boys is one of the most popular comic book series of all time, which is mostly due to the TV series being exceptionally popular; this, of course, increased the popularity of the comic book as well. At the same time, Marvel is one of the two biggest comic book publishers in the world, and The Boys is, in part, satirizing their work as well.
While these two have very little in common in terms of their plots and characters (aside from the fact that some of The Boys characters are parodies of Marvel’s characters), there are several people that connect the live-action adaptation of The Boys, as well as the live-action and animated adaptation of Marvel’s comic books.

The Boys Season 4 may have been criticized for its slower pacing thus far, but things are heating up with every episode. The recent episode 6, which might have been the second-most shameless of the lot since Herogasm, saw fans get a clue about everything that is wrong with Bully Butcher, expertly portrayed by Karl Urban.
There is no doubt that Butcher has completely lost his s**t, and the recent episode gave us clues about the extent of the damage his brain tumor has caused. The V-ued up, former The Boys leader who was seen kidnapping Dr. Sameer Shah in the previous episode, was seen coming to terms with the two personas that have taken over his mind.

The calendar flipped to July this week. There is plenty of ongoing scripted programming to help you pass the time indoors and away from the oppressive heat and humidity of summer. But in terms of new shows, Netflix’s latest sports documentary series, “Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans,” is the highlight of the long holiday weekend.
The streaming service’s newest addition is a six-episode series that offers viewers a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to be not just an elite athlete but one of the fastest people alive. A perfectly timed primer for the Paris Olympics later this month, the show — all episodes of which are now streaming on Netflix — follows top sprinters throughout the 2023 World Championships, including Americans Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles, and Jamaican superstar Shericka Jackson, among others. If you can keep up, “Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans” is the awards contender to watch this weekend.

Though quite a few fans did figure out the twist beforehand, this week's episode of The Boys concluded with a big reveal relating to Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character, Joe Kessler.
Spoilers follow.
At the end of "Dirty Business," we learn that Billy Butcher did not save his old mate's life when they both served at the Panjshir Valley in Afghanistan, and the late Kessler has been a figment of his imagination all along.
There's been some speculation that Kessler actually exists as a manifestation of Butcher's V-induced tumor, who takes over when the host unleashes his powers, not unlike Marvel's Venom. Showrunner Eric Kripke addressed this theory during an interview with EW.
"I don't think he's like Venom. I don't think he's a dude with his own point of view and wants to go eat chickens or whatever, but I think he represents all that's dark and malignant inside of Butcher.

Prime Video's The Boys has always served up plenty of sociopolitical commentary/satire with its outrageous violence and debauchery, but season 4 definitely seems to have leaned a little more into paralleling real-world events, and there is a perception that the show has become a more scathing take-down of the far right than it ever was before.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has always been very up-front about what - and who - the series is taking aim at, and the writing has proved to be almost prescient with its similarities to current events - especially during this latest season.
For example, season 4 finds Homelander on trial for publicly killing a protestor in the season 3 finale, and the show returned to our screens shortly after former President Donald Trump's numerous convictions. Then, in this week's episode, Homelander and Sister Sage unveil their plan to take control of the White House by killing...

This post contains spoilers for "The Boys."
In "The Boys," Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) has always been hounded by his own demons. After losing his wife Becca (Shantel VanSanten), Butcher trampled on his vulnerabilities to wield brutality as a weapon, and this worked in his favor several times, giving the titular group the advantage they needed. However, beneath this devil-may-care unpredictability lies layers of emotional baggage: unresolved childhood trauma revolving around Lenny's death and the constant clash between morality and purpose that defines his arc. By the end of Season 3, Butcher was reduced to a shell of a man — a predicament made worse by the unchecked use of Temp V, which contributed to a tumor consuming his psyche. In the latest season, Butcher has oscillated between opposing impulses, giving into a gentler, more compassionate side while retaining his signature brutality, unleashing it when one least expects it.

Recasting happens all the time. Tragedy sometimes strikes, like in the case of Professor Albus Dumbledore in the "Harry Potter" series, where Michael Gambon assumed the role following the passing of the original performer, Richard Harris. Oftentimes, recasting is a result of scheduling conflicts, like when "May December" breakout star Charles Melton took over the role of Reggie Mantle on "Riverdale" due to original actor Ross Butler's scheduling conflicts with "13 Reasons Why." And sometimes a character is recast simply because they weren't right for the role, as was famously the case with Eric Stoltz, who was replaced by Michael J. Fox after six weeks of shooting "Back to the Future."
In all of these instances, fans were well aware of the recastings as they happened, but once a person has been playing a role long enough, audiences sometimes forget they were ever recast in the first place. This...

So far, every season of The Boys has featured one episode that really stands out as being more outrageous, messed-up, and downright diabolical than the others, and this Thursday's instalment, the aptly titled "Dirty Business," might be among the most jaw-dropping yet.
Without getting into spoilers (although Prime Video seems happy enough to reveal a few in this promo), the episode sees Hughie dress in Web-Weaver's costume in order to infiltrate a party held at Tek Knight's - the Batman parody Supe introduced in Gen V - mansion.
If you've seen the recent spin-off series, you'll be aware that Tek Knight has somewhat... unconventional sexual proclivities, so it probably won't surprise you to learn that his parties involve more than just a few old friends catching up over drinks and finger food.
Have a look at the teaser below along with a Tek Knight explainer, but once again, be aware of some potentially major spoilers.

The fourth season of “The Boys” has taken a surprisingly emotional turn with the storyline involving Hugh Campbell Sr., played by Simon Pegg. Known for its biting satire and graphic content, the show has delved into more poignant territory, using the decline and death of Hughie’s father as a vehicle to explore deeper themes of loss, the corrupting nature of power, and the importance of letting go.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Eric Kripke explained the significance of this arc for Hughie’s character development:
“Hughie was never good at letting anybody go. He wasn’t good at letting go of Butcher, Annie, or of his anger towards A-Train. And so, this season, he learns it was time to let his father go; he learns it was time to let go of his anger towards A-Train. It’s time to show forgiveness towards his mother,...

The inciting incident in J.J. Abrams' 2013 sci-fi revenge thriller "Star Trek Into Darkness" was an act of terrorism. In a swift montage, audiences were introduced to a character names Thomas Harewood, a Federation citizen with a sick young daughter, Lucille (Anjini Taneja Azhar) dying of an incurable ailment. Thomas, at his wit's end, was approached by a mysterious man named "John Harrison" (Benedict Cumberbatch) who claimed to have a miracle cure, and he will administer it ... in exchange for a fatal, violent errand.
"Harrison" will later reveal himself to be the cryogenically unfrozen supervillain Khan Noonien Singh, and his miracle cure was an injection of his own genetically enhanced blood. Harewood's violent errand was to carry out a destructive suicide bombing on the Kelvin Memorial Archive. Harewood killed 42 people, including himself, and sent a message to a Starfleet admiral, alerting Kirk (Chris Pine) to the situation and getting the film's mysterious plot going.

In J.J. Abrams' 2013 feature "Star Trek Into Darkness," Alice Eve appeared as Dr. Carol Marcus, a science officer who came to the U.S.S. Enterprise to examine a shipment of photon torpedoes. Working with Dr. McCoy (Karl Urban), she finds that the torpedoes were used as covert coffin-shaped tubes, intended to smuggle cryogenically frozen compatriots of the villain Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch). She would also eventually play a key role in stopping the evil machinations of her vengeful father, Admiral Marcus (Peter Weller), who aims to pilot a wicked warship called the U.S.S. [Editor’s note:The following article contains spoilers for Episode 5 of “The Boys” Season 4, “Beware of the Jabberwocky, My Son.”]
With the ending of Season 3 of “The Boys” seeing Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher diagnosed as terminally ill following multiple injections of Compound V, Season 4 sees him rushing to find a solution, while also being kept on a leash. Since his team doesn’t seem to want his help, he conspires with old CIA colleague Joe Kessler (new cast member Jeffrey Dean Morgan), but in this past week’s episode, “Beware of the Jabberwocky, My Son,” he starts to realize death may not be the only thing he has to worry about. In a recent interview with Variety, showrunner Eric Kripke discussed the episode, acknowledging the mutated bunny Butcher encounters to be a bad omen.
“It doesn’t mean anything good,” he said. “I don’t want to give too much away, but I think Butcher is really starting to wonder what’s happening to him,...

The fourth season of The Boys has already begun, but many fans of Eric Kripke's project are not satisfied. And we can understand them — a mix of bloody violence and harsh parody has been replaced by a kind of soap opera.
If you are one of the disappointed viewers, then these nine projects can serve as a perfect replacement for The Boys.
1. Doom Patrol, 2019-2023
Doom Patrol could be just another superhero show if it weren't for the characters who have no idea how to control their abilities. Former race car driver Cliff has to learn to live in a robot body, pilot Larry has to harness a being made of pure energy, movie star Rita has to struggle with maintaining a solid form of her body, and Jane has to deal with her 64 personalities.
They learn to be heroes and try to channel their powers to fight evil.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers from Episode 5 of “The Boys” Season 4, currently streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.
While Homelander (Antony Starr) and the supes were away at Vought’s V52 fan event (not to be at all confused with Disney’s 23) on this week’s episode of “The Boys,” Butcher (Karl Urban), Frenchie (Tomer Capone) and company played with a group of crazy, vicious farm animals on a journey to find a supe-killing virus.
Amid those two wild plot points was a graver storyline: Hughie (Jack Quaid) and his recently returned mother Daphne (Rosemarie Dewitt) saying goodbye to Hugh Sr. (Simon Pegg), when Hughie agrees to give his dad a pain-free death to put him out of his new misery. During the episode, Hugh Sr. struggled to control the destructive phasing super power he’d acquired after Daphne gave him Compound V in order to bring him out of a coma.

Season 4 of The Boys has been hard on Butcher, from his hallucination of Becca to growing cancer in his brain. Not to mention, he now has a timeline for his crusade against Homelander, something that he thought he had a lot of time on his hands to execute.

However, it seems things are only going to get worse for Billy Butcher, given that a theory suggests that Becca is more than just another hallucination, the angel on Butcher’s shoulder. As for the devil, that would be his old friend Kessler, who the character always interacts with in his lonesome.
