บริษัทอินเดียตะวันออกอันทรงเกียรติ (อังกฤษ: Honourable East India Company) [1] หรือในเวลาต่อมาคือ บริษัทอินเดียตะวันออกของบริเตน[2] เป็นบริษัทร่วมทุนสัญชาติอังกฤษในช่วงแรก ซึ่งเดิมถูกก่อตั้งขึ้นเพื่อแสวงหาการค้ากับภูมิภาคอินเดียตะวันออก แต่ในภายหลังได้ดำเนินการค้าส่วนใหญ่กับอนุทวีปอินเดียและจีน บริษัทอินเดียตะวันออกถือได้ว่ามีความเก่าแก่ที่สุดเมื่อเทียบกับบริษัทอินเดียตะวันออกของชาติทวีปยุโรปอื่น ๆ
เมื่อแรกก่อตั้ง บริษัทได้รับพระราชทานตราตั้งโดยสมเด็จพระราชินีนาถเอลิซาเบธที่ 1ให้เป็น "ข้าหลวงแลบริษัทพาณิชย์แห่งลอนดอนซึ่งจักทำการค้าไปยังอินเดียตะวันออก" เมื่อวันที่ 31 ธันวาคม ค.ศ. 1600[3] บริษัทนี้เกิดขึ้นจากการร่วมทุนระหว่างพ่อค้าและชนชั้นสูงในอังกฤษ รัฐบาลมิได้ถือหุ้นอยู่ในบริษัทแต่ก็มีการอำนวยความสะดวกต่างๆให้แก่บริษัท เช่น สนับสนุนด้านกำลังทหารและกองเรือปืน การดำเนินงานของบริษัทนี้มีส่วนแบ่งถึงครึ่งหนึ่งของมูลค่าการค้าทั้งโลก สร้างรายได้ในรูปแบบภาษีให้แก่รัฐบาลอังกฤษอย่างมหาศาล บริษีทเป็นผู้จัดหาสินค้าสำคัญคือ ผ้าฝ้าย, ผ้าไหม, สีย้อมผ้า, เกลือ, ดินประสิว, ใบชา และ ฝิ่น
ในอินเดียเอง ก็มีนิคมของชาติยุโรปอื่นๆตั้งอยู่เช่นกัน เช่นของปรัสเซีย, เนเธอร์แลนด์ และฝรั่งเศส แต่ในปี 1740 อังกฤษได้ขัดแย้งกับปรัสเซียและฝรั่งเศสจากผลของสงครามสืบราชบัลลังก์ออสเตรีย การต่อสู้นั้นเกิดขึ้นทั้งในยุโรปและบางส่วนของอินเดีย จักรวรรดิโมกุลเลือกที่จะยืนอยู่ข้างฝรั่งเศสและทำสงครามกับบริษัท อย่างไรก็ตาม บริษัทสามารถมีชัยเหนือกองทัพของโมกุลและฝรั่งเศสได้และบริษัทได้เข้าไปปกครองภาคเบงกอล ต่อมาหลังฝรั่งเศสพ่ายแพ้ในสงครามเจ็ดปี ฝรั่งเศสก็เสียดินแดนพิหารในอินเดียแก่อังกฤษและฝรั่งเศสจำยอมถอนอิทธิพลออกจากอินเดีย
