The Gemini app is an AI assistant. If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.
The Gemini app is available only on Android phones with 2 GB of RAM or more, running Android 10 and up.
This official app is free of charge. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:
- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarise and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive
- Use text, voice, photos and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen
- Make plans with Google Maps and Google Flights
If you have access to Gemini Advanced it will be right here in the Gemini app.

I generally expect the new thing to come with at least the same features as the thing it replaces, if not more. That bar isn't high but it wasn't cleared. It lies about setting timers, giving identical voice confirmation as Assistant but without actually setting the timer. It doesn't handle music, search, navigation or home automation integrations as well as Assistant and it's a one-way "upgrade". Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

I love the Gemini app. It's great and highly resourceful to me. I just need the developers to include the 'upload file' option in the mobile app. It needs more assistant-ish features like Siri. I'd also like an upgrade to how Gemini gives answers. Sometimes, it isn't always accurate, and it delivers false information, which can be very upsetting. I want it to provide more precise and comprehensively detailed responses when asked prompts. If all these can be fixed, then I'd give it a five-star.

Needs a lot of work as someone disabled google assistance has less issue also the minimalistic listening color sound line the shows voice peaks is far better as you can see it registering your voice when you have hearing issues. I'd recommend to keep that. Also both need the ability to choose the microphone as they both move to the watch microphone and I don't always have my watch on meaning I have 0 access to the assistant that I rely on. This is a big issue.
