This official app is free. Gemini gives you direct access to Google’s best family of AI models on your phone so you can:
- Get help with writing, brainstorming, learning, and more
- Summarize and find quick info from Gmail or Google Drive

- Use text, voice, photos and your camera to get help in new ways
- Say “Hey Google” to ask Gemini for help with what’s on your phone screen

If you have access to Gemini Advanced it will be right here in the Gemini app.
The Gemini app is now live in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more languages. See the full list of supported languages and countries here:

If you opt in to the Gemini app, it will replace your Google Assistant as the primary assistant on the phone. Some Google Assistant voice features aren't available through the Gemini app yet — including controlling media and routines. You can switch back to Google Assistant in settings.

I generally expect the new thing to come with at least the same features as the thing it replaces, if not more. That bar isn't high but it wasn't cleared. It lies about setting timers, giving identical voice confirmation as Assistant but without actually setting the timer. It doesn't handle music, search, navigation or home automation integrations as well as Assistant and it's a one-way "upgrade". Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

The app works well when you start new conversations. If you try to continue already existing conversations you get kicked out of the conversation or the app. And if you have music running in the background of your phone, the music pauses when you enter the app or when you open already existing conversations. Great AI, but the app still needs improvement. Quite frustrating when you want to pickup brainstorming sessions but the app keeps kicking you out. For now I'll be using it in the browser.

I love the Gemini app. It's great and highly resourceful to me. I just need the developers to include the 'upload file' option in the mobile app. It needs more assistant-ish features like Siri. I'd also like an upgrade to how Gemini gives answers. Sometimes, it isn't always accurate, and it delivers false information, which can be very upsetting. I want it to provide more precise and comprehensively detailed responses when asked prompts. If all these can be fixed, then I'd give it a five-star.
